Doctor Who

But Flesh Doc wasn't killed in a way that you would expect anyone to regenerate from. He wasn't stabilised (as the others were later in the Tardis). It's possible that if he had been, he would be capable of regeneration. Not saying he necessarily would be, just that he could be.

That said, I don't think they would use the Flesh again this season. Everyone jumped to the conclusion that dead Doctor was Flesh Doctor. Then it turned out that they introduced the Flesh to pull an Amy switcheroo. Then they used it again on baby. I can't see them going back to the same device AGAIN this season. Unless the Doctor sees it as justice for them tricking him before. But remember, the Doctor saw his duplicate as equal to himself, with as much right to live. I don't see him letting a Flesh copy sacrifice itself for him.

He already has let his Flesh copy sacrifice itself for him. The one he saw as an exact equal. He also killed Amy's ganger, though as we've said it's a bit unclear whether they've solved the issue with Flesh retaining memories and sensation in the version of the future she's controlling it from - perhaps now it really is just inert programmable matter, etc. I think you're right though in that using the Flesh again might turn it into a bit of a deus ex machina and kind of a predictable get-out clause.

The main thing that leads me to believe they're not using it is MOFFAT HIMSELF SAYING IT WOULD BE SHIT TO DO THAT.

Oh, btw, there is evidence on Youtube that Matt Smith is in fact NOT returning. Here's the Twelfth Doctor's audition tape:

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Moffat said precisely that, more 'how on earth would he manage to fool River??' - as though he's inviting us to come up with a way it COULD work.

But I'm pretty sure it's not that. Then again, he's hardly going to post on Twitter that that IS what's going on.

He wouldn't directly respond to a question if it was.

I would like to see Amy and Rory stay on for at least another series. They're both strong enough characters and we haven't had a companion last longer than two series since Who came back.

I wondered if Corporal Hooters McBoobs from the last episode was being set up to be a new companion before her unfortunate demise.

I did too - but mainly because she fitted Moffat's trend of "important" ladies who the Doctor meets at a young age and has a profound impact on their lives (e.g. Madam P, Amy, River)

Have any of the other companions been raised somewhere other than contemporary Earth, though? Plus the whole military background deal would make her a bit rubbish at the Princess Peach aspect of companioning, and the bumbling-around-cocking-everything-up-because-you're-an-idiot.

She only joins the clerics to meet the Doctor again though, doesn't she? So possibly out of guilt he revisits her so that she doesn't have to

Of course she could just be a bit-part that will never appear again

I don't think it could be River in the suit who shoots the Doctor, because River couldn't go to Demon's Run until the baby was gone, and River is already in America at that stage. There must be some reason for that in a paradoxical can't-be-in-the-same-place-as-yourself sense, unless she was just wussing out.

I still think it's little River in that suit purely because big River said "Oh well, that figures" (or some such) when she utterly failed to hit it with a bullet when she is usually a brilliant shot. It sounded throwaway and yet very important at the same time.

Ooh yes, good point, timey wimey would prevent killing oneself like that!

I'm pretty sure she said that because she actually hit it but it was yet another alien menace that was immune to bullets.

I don't know, the shot lingered on her for a fair while after she said "Of course not". It'd be a bit of a strange time for a sarcastic quip as well.

4 through 7 are a lot rounder than they used to be.

I wonder if the Tennant and Christopher Eccles Cake will go the same way. I imagine they'll age like William Hartnell.

When Peter Davison appeared in Time Crash they explained his change of appearance through timey-wimey-ness.
