Doctor Who

I loved the bit with the girl who'd met the Doctor for such a short period of time and how much it had changed her life. He played along with it and, referencing the very first episode of the new series, the only thing he said to her was 'Run!'. His first introduction.

Then when she died, he asks who she was.

Superb.

He played along with her because he hadn't met her yet. He hadn't begun his quest to save Melody.

Do you think we'll be seeing her again before the season's out? As a child, I mean.

I'm hoping there's some explanation for River pointing at the Gallifreyan. On Confidential she says it's his name. In the scene, it definitely looks like he's reading the cot rather than what's inside it.

But if it's the Doctor's name on the cot, that's his REAL name, isn't it? The one River whispered in his ear to get him to trust her in the library.

edit: Just checked Confidential. She says 'How many babies have been in that cot...that's all I can say'. It certainly sounds as if she's hinting at something.

she's almost certainly the first kid to be conceived in the Tardis. since ep 1 of the new series, it's demonstrated that being in the Tardis for too long can fuck you up... this series has also shown that the Tardis is alive, so, a kid conceived in the Tardis probably shares more with the machine than anyone else, hence how River can fly it better than the Doctor.

Great story line.

She could yet have a whole lifetime ahead of her flying a tardis.

Everyone please remember that this is only midway through the story. There's still a lot to go. You might not understand why it's so important that River is who she is but we're not working from a full deck of information.

Couldn't agree more. I was very sceptical when he was announced but that vanished after that first episode. I also loved the speech to Commander Run Away, there was a whole other doctor talking there.

You know, I've never understood the people who cry "Bring back Tennant!" (Not necessarily on here). As much as I liked the show back then, I always found Tennant a little to saccharine for me. Smith absolutely nails the Doctor IMO. He's quirky and unpredictable with the right amount of underlying menace. If (When) he leaves the show I can't see anyone bettering him in the role.

I think Christopher Ecclestone was the worst of the new Doctors. He might have been okay if he'd played it straight but I suppose they have to act to what the writing dictates.

That's what I like about Matt Smith, he looks a bit odd.
