From the SFX preview any idea of the following (5 is only put in to give 6 context)

5 There are lots of suprise guests stars (and some will be a surprise) but unlike in “The Pandorica Opens” none of them feels wasted – they all have a chance to shine… 6 …Apart from one maybe

Pirates?

16 Somebody very unexpected is playing doctors and nurses

Sontaran

20 …And the corridors

The corridor in the control room where the Doctor was talking to eyepatch lady looked a lot like the corridors in the Tardis.

One thing that still confuses me; why could River only join them at the very end? Unless we're gigging with the somewhat typically flimsy handling of pre-determinism, I could see absolutely nothing stopping her from being present throughout.

Also could be the two Judoon who were in only one shot (unless I blinked and missed them again)..

And wasn't the Pirate ep originally supposed to be in the second half of the season?

The whole "Colonel Runaway" speech was great :)

She would've been in the same place as herself. Ok the baby was Flesh, but the mind etc was still linked.

Only at the writing stage. Bonnerville just stepped out of a door and that was that, so that could be deemed as feeling wasted.

In Confidential, Arthur Darvill said something like: "It's like when you were a kid and lined up all your different action figures from all your favourite cartoons." He was describing the scene when the army comes together, but it also sums up the whole episode pretty well - silly, over the top, a bit disjointed as it tries to cram everything in, but great fun!

I suppose the episode restructuring is to blame for the pirate captain and his son only appearing in one shot rather than playing as central a role as the other recruits.

Sontaran breast milk. <_<

Have to say, the River Song revelation was a bit overshadowed by the next episode title! :omg: Obviously reminds you of the old question "If you could go back in time and kill Hitler as a baby..." - but is that going to be taken literally, or is it just a nod to the more general theme of meddling with time travel?

Any idea what the throwaway line from last season that SFX referred to was?

The Doctor yelled something just as the Space Spitfires attacked, though I didn't quite hear what. Maybe that was a callback to something that was said in Victory of the Daleks?

Found it! (I think)

The museum the Amy and The Doctor are in at the start of "The Time of the Angels" is "the last resting place of the headless monks"

Yeah just saw that in Confidential. Must've been what they meant.

Weirdly I feel better about the Doctor copping off with River now that she's part Time Lord.

Also, this revelation gives production teams the opportunity to use different actresses for her if they want to keep using the character for years and years and not have to worry about Alex Kingston ageing.

Heh. I like this comment:
Good stuff.. I really like it... If only the Doctor Who writers could be

so imaginative...

Pat

:)

I like it too, for Doctor Who had already explored the very same idea in Planet of the Spiders, The Face of Evil, City of Death, The Trial of a Time Lord, Genesis of the Daleks, a good number of the seventh Doctor's television and prose stories... :sherlock:

Anyone see the bit on Confidential where Alex Kingston was talking about River pointing at the cot. She said some ambiguous stuff about it being the Doctor's name on the cot, but her name on the cloth. Then how did the Doctor know who she was from looking at the cot, and why was River trying to get Amy to read the cot?

I thought it was cool, except 'the twist' was blindingly obvious from the second the baby's name was revealed to be 'melody' and they made a point of saying 'Pond, not Williams'. Hmm Melody Pond, what does that remind you of! Perhaps I wouldn't have twigged but River making a song (pun intended) and dance about 'today he finds out who I am!' had me thinking along those lines already.

Does this mean River didn't die in the library? That she regenerated? Bit of a 'hmm' because it was her consciousness that got injected into that mainframe thingy wasn't it?

Someone needs to hit the reboot button!

No, she said even the Doctor would have died permanently, been unable to regenerate. Instant brain melt methinks.

River/Melody also gets arrested and put in prison... a prison she seems to be able to escape from at will... however, it was for killing the greatest man ever, who we're assuming it The Doctor. BUT - the people that said that, were the Church people, who may not describe the Doctor like that.

So, who did she kill?

"When I put in gays it's an 'Agenda', but everyone LOVES Moffats Gay Anglican Marine jokes"

The best way of showing the difference between RTD's gay stuff and Moffat's is to simply compare Captain Jack and Canton Delaware (Who I was hoping would be in this episode :( ).

And it probably wasn't, but the Fat Thin Anglican Gay etc etc Duo made me laugh 'cause it was so over the top and just seemed like a massive pisstake of all the gay stuff RTD threw in.
