Doctor Who

Most interesting bit of the last ep was the similarity between the Timelord regeneration and the way the Tardis enters that girl, now it could all be coincidence or a lack of budget making them re-use special effects but there seems to be similarities between the two...

I'd love them to explore it more, perhaps Tardises were Timelords once and there's a nobilty element that decides whether you get to keep your form or be forced to regenerate into Tardis soul. The connection between the Tardis and the Dr is perhaps the main reason he betrayed his kind in the Time War...

Just speculating.

Actually the explanation is rather simpler than that. The original explanation for the appearance of Ecclestone's regeneration was that his body was expelling the residual Artron energy he absorbed from Rose, which she'd absorbed from the heart of the Tardis. After that RTD simply decided to use the same effect for future regenerations.

I must be dead inside because I didn't think the latest episode was anything special.

Corridors! A talking TARDIS woman! It should have been amazing, but it felt a bit pedestrian. I don't know why. Maybe it's just becoming too predictable now, or maybe I'm just far more interested in them wrapping up the hanging threads from episodes 1 and 2, and the rest feels like filler.

EDIT: It was better than the pirate episode, though.

Would anyone object to a separate Torchwood thread? It's pretty much an entirely separate entity at this point, I'll be amazed if there's anything beyond a nod and wink to Who in the new US series.

I wouldn't object. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Didn't even realise that a new Torchwood was incoming, will it follow a similar format to Season 3? I loved that, proper 'event' television.

EDIT: Ignore me, just seen the new Torchwood thread.

Isn't that episode 7?

Err yes. I think it's probably because I'm trying to force the memory of Fear Her out of my mind with the side effect of making the next two episodes not exist just in case they're fucking rubbish.

I swear, episode 3 of future seasons of Smith-ian DW will always be regarded as "THE SHIT ONE".

The latest one was absolutely wonderful. I love it when the show really, truly delivers.

Wouldn't that make it episode 5 to you then?
