It's all getting rather exciting now. Just over two weeks for the first full series in two years. New writer! New Doctor! More importantly... new titles!

Someone who's seen the episode wrote that apart from the new logo and font the titles were the same as before. It's possible they could have done that so descriptions of the real ones with any new music don't leak out. But why would they? It's only us sad sacks who get excited about those kinds of things. :D

It's going to be great though. Ashes to Ashes on a Friday, DW on a Saturday.

They must have used placeholder titles for the preview, as I seem to recall there being at least a new version of the theme tune on the way. Keep the faith. ;)

For some reason, I find the khaki dalek terribly exciting. Return of the

shit cybermen

? Not so much.

added tags for those who don't want to watch the trailer

The

shit Cybermen

will only ever be as shit as the writing though. Heck,

the "good" Cybermen have been far worse in the past than the shit ones ever were, and far more inconsistently written. There's no reason why these can't be amazing with the right story behind them.

Going to have to disagree there. I think the design of the

shit Cybermen

is fundamentally flawed.

The good Cybermen, in all their various incarnations, at least looked like they could move around fairly freely. Granted, they weren't going to be crawling through ventilation ducts with their big jug ears, but they could run, jump, etc if they really needed to. These new ones are proper old school clanky robot men who can't do fuck all except stomp around slowly saying "delete". That is not cybernetic enhancement. That is cybernetic enshitment.

I could actually go on at length about the appalling character design in new Who but I won't. I would just point out that the Abzorbaloff, despite being designed by a five year old, did not look out of place among the rhino police and the time bats and the other bats that Tony Head was one of.
