For a minute I thought it was Matt Smith, the creator of Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy. Who is probably quite mad enough to play the part.

I don't really see any big issue with him being young, as long as he can act and has the scripts to back it up, and it could open up some interesting issues with the character. The Doctor has always had an air of authority and gravitas so it could be intriguing to see how other characters react to a younger person trying to be authoritative and the inner conflicts the Doctor has because his outerself might not match his inner personality.

He'll be superb. It's pretty obvious he's a good actor, and he's going to have some brilliant scripts behind him, no doubt. I have no idea why everyone is doom mongering.

I can understand why some people are unsure - he didn't come across that well in the interview but did appear to be a decent actor in the stuff he has appeared in. On the other hand David Tennant has charisma in spades in and out of character.

Tennant is settled. He knows that part and everything that comes with it through and through.

This is all new to Matt-face. I think he came across as very passionate about what he's going to do, but muddled with his words. In the shows, the words will be written down for him, so he'll be okay.
