Doctor Who

Of course they've gone for a young guy.

Girls love doctor who, I mean tenant. Loads of women like him. So they still want a young, vibrant doctor.

It's all about ratings and popularity, not about who would be best suited to to role.

Unless Moffat was lying (why would he?) he was expecting to cast an older actor.

For a minute I thought it was Matt Smith, the creator of Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy. Who is probably quite mad enough to play the part.

This one has a definite...odd look about him. He's perfect for the part. I bet Outpost Gallifrey has gone into meltdown. There'll be tears over the Horlicks when their Mums bring it their way tonight.

When I first saw the new guy, I thought "Who?!" What?!" "Looks like a gimp!" But then I saw the clips of him acting, and was pleasntly surprised.

LOLWORTHY final shot to the programme, mind. Whatever were they thinking, leaving that in?

And who's given Moffat shitloads more media training? I swear he was never as slick as that in the old Confidentials.

I reckon he'll be good. He's been pretty good in the few things I've seen him in previously, and Stephen Moffat has never let us down.

His youth/lack of gravitas could be made to work. He could be very frustrated by people's inability to see past his young face to the years of wisdom and experience within.

Didn't we already go through this route with Peter Davisons Doctor though?

Did anybody here see the BBC Sally Lockheart dramatisations over the last two years? I knew I knew him from somewhere, and when they showed clips from thoe it finally clicked.

It's a brave choice, but in my opinion it's also a brilliant one. Roll on 2010!

I don't really see any big issue with him being young, as long as he can act and has the scripts to back it up, and it could open up some interesting issues with the character. The Doctor has always had an air of authority and gravitas so it could be intriguing to see how other characters react to a younger person trying to be authoritative and the inner conflicts the Doctor has because his outerself might not match his inner personality.

Dr Emo.

He comes across as an annoying little twat, with no charm or charisma.

What the fuck are they thinking. I give him 1 series tops.

Is the next Dr Who exclusive to Cbeebies?

It's like Tate all over again in this thread. :P

He'll be superb. It's pretty obvious he's a good actor, and he's going to have some brilliant scripts behind him, no doubt. I have no idea why everyone is doom mongering.

And you wonder why folk nominated you as the worst forumite, Joyrex? :)

Tennant is settled. He knows that part and everything that comes with it through and through.

This is all new to Matt-face. I think he came across as very passionate about what he's going to do, but muddled with his words. In the shows, the words will be written down for him, so he'll be okay. :P

I didn't want to post in case I come across negatively before the blokes had a chance to impress me but it went something like this:

RTD: we've gone for a younger doctor this time

the GF: they've gone for looks

Me: Don't be silly, they don't need to,

Moffat: He's 26

the GF: they've gone for looks...

then, this thing that looks like it was created by the same mad scientist that made Hermann Munster appears

the GF: is that him?

me: yeah, you can't unsee it can you?

If they've got this wrong, jesus...
