Doctor Who

I went up to put my eldest to bed a couple of hours ago and the youngest (2 year old Maria) was tucked up with a Dalek instead of her usual teddy.

I'd keep a close eye on that one if I were you :D

I'm actually looking forward to the final 2, but God knows why, given the track record of the previous finales.

Hey, if we get a first part as good as The Sound of Drums and a second part as good as The Parting of the Ways I'll be happy. But if the Cybermen turn up I'm stabbing everyone I know.

I shat bricks when London got nuked. I thought the Italian guy was excellent, and it was like "WTF NOOOOOOO" when they got taken off to the Nazi like camps.

No seriously, what the hell was up with that? Even if London got nuked, I can't forsee Britain ever having death camps.

You NEED to watch 'Threads'. I think you can find it on youtube now. Definitely an inspiration for yesterday's episode.

I loved hearing the Cloister Bell at the end, but FFS show us more of the TARDIS. I'd still love to see an entire episode based inside it.

You could watch Inside the Spaceship 'The Edge of Destruction' from the old series, or possibly also 'Castrovalva'

I really hated The Sound of Drums, which is odd as I don't know anyone else who did. I think it's partially because my Who-hating friend was round and saw John Simm go "Wait a minute! I've GOT THE DOCTOR'S HAND!", and just for a second I realised how bad that must have looked to someone who didn't watch the show. But it's also partially because it's got that awful scene with Simm and the screams and the door and it has McFly looking embarassed and it introduces the stupid Valiant. Urgh. By contrast I rather liked Last of the Timelords, so foo.

EDIT: That new BBC trailer gives me hope Davros will be done well after all. His tone of voice in it is just right; I like how he's all full of underplayed menace. I really love Davros as a character, he's an absolutely brilliant villain.

:D

I want a first part as good as The Sound of Drums and a second episode where the first half is as good as The Parting Of The Ways and the second half is as good as Doomsday. Oh yeah and an unexpected first-of-three part as good as Utopia but we've already not had that.

I enjoyed that episode and I'm pleased that Bad Wolf has made a comeback. It looks like the next episode(s) could be amazing but at the same time we've just had the "everybody dies (in a parallel universe)" episode so I can't really see any main cast member buying the farm in the finale.

Catherine Tate has really grown on me (she's the new Teagan), but my wishlist for another series would be less stories where the companion has some major "thing" which means that space and time gravitate towards them making them important in some way.

I'd like to see more Leela/Mel/Jamie (hell, even Turlough or Pex) type supporting chracters with no major "thing" attached to them.

And I'd like to see another Dalek in 1930s New York episode because I am the only person in the country who liked it.

A fine episode I agree, except for the fact that Billie Piper's abnormal mouth kept distracting me every time she spoke. I was going to question how she managed to move from her dimension, in which I thought she was stuck forever, to this one, but I know the answer now: she used a Janet Street Tele-Porter.

Caught up on this episode last night (had to go to a wedding on Saturday).

Another absolutely marvellous episode, continuing the run of quality since, well since that Doctor's Daughter rubbish. In fact, that's been the only real duffer this season.

Tate was absolutely brilliant, but what the fuck was wrong with Billie Piper?

But the Sound of Drums and Doomsday were terrible. ;)

Sound of the Drums level for the first part, Parting of the Ways for the second part, the emotional gut punch of Doomsday with the combined musical brilliance of Last of the Time Lord and Doomsday

Being fair this is gonna be a different fanwank explosion :o

Also - I thought they only had Dalek rights for a couple of seasons?

This'll only be fanwank if it turns out Davros is in league with the Sea Devils and is making Dalek-Cybermen hybrids or something.

Jesus, Doomsday annoyed the shit out of me.

Meh. I liked Doomsday.

It was an interesting battle (and the Dalek's right pwned them).

The idea of the Daleks hiding in between the void was nice.

Cult of Skaro - not really.

Genesis Ark - interesting idea, and a nice little riddle (which I guessed).

The sucking them all back to hell was a little OTT, but generally ok.

What's a breakfast bag?

This has been unanswered for 3 days now, and I'm sitting here at work fretting that you are missing out in a big way. We each go through our lives asking the ultimate questions - where do I come from, what is the meaning of life - but this is so much more important than any of them. So, Hexx, here is the answer you have been seeking:

It's like a pint, but then better.
