Doctor Who

Who is Saxxon?

I feel like I should have known from an earlier episode in this series but cant recall any mention.

Is this an old Who villain?

He has had some mentions, but really just stuff in the background, like mentions on radio and TV and posters on walls.

As for your last question, that is the big question. "Saxon" is new, but there is speculation that he may be an old villain in a new form.

didnt happen in the books its because of the TV movie.

It also means the doctor is still half human as RTD states the McGann movie is canon.

Ah. really? try as I might I cannot get through the TV movie.

tonight's episode - decent story, great scene with the doc and lazarus when discussing immortality but otherwise a retreading of ideas, another shite performance from tennant and why, why, WHY not leave martha behind? :P

Has to be said though... next weeks looks AMAZING.

I thought Gatiss was writing that episode but obviously not.

The season trailer looked very good and I especially liked the scarecrows and Saxon in the oxygen mask.

I'm still not really feeling this series though although that episode was heading in the right direction.

OK, so it's not next week. OK, so as people (who probably read it somewhere else) have said it's for the second half of the season and not one episode. Happy? :P

For fuck's sake, you thought all that might have been one episode? You wanting Doctor Who for the MTV generation?

Maybe you should stop hatin' and start concentratin'.

Considering every episode this season has tried to cram too many ideas into 45 minutes AND FUCKING FAILED MISERABLY then frankly all I cared about was it looked half interesting. I cannot be arsed with this blinkered fanboy shite.

who was that bloke talking to martha' mum? Saxon's lackey or another timelord?

I thought he was just a lackey. But there is something about him that says he may not be quite human either. But I wouldn't say he is a Timelord.

If you don't like it, why don't you stop watching?

I’m surprised to say that I actually enjoyed tonight’s episode, which is a good thing considering how much I have disliked this season.

Only problem I had was how the sonic screwdriver was used YET again to save the day. Very lazy script. Thing is they didn’t even need to use it. Why not just have the doctor lure him up into the bell tower and drop the bell onto the things head. It had those snip, snip claws so they could have used them as a plot device to cause it to fall on the things head. Not a bad ep though, so I only hope things get better.

Next weeks looks interesting though I was sad to see Sam Tyler in it. I was hoping he might be the next Doctor when Tennant quits.

One thing I would like to see at some stage is a bit of this time war (maybe a flashback) we keep hearing about. The only Who I watched back when I was a nipper was the Sylvester McCoy episodes and I cant even remember them. I do have one question, has the Doctor ever met himself either in reincarnated form from the future or past in the TV series?

Captain Jack comes back and he and the Doctor fight scarecrows during several different periods of the early 20th century. And also in space. That's not all that far-fetched, surely?

y'know tonight I came within a whisker. We stopped at the pub and I bottled it with 10 mins to go. Can't really say it was worth the effort, other than to see the trailer.

Otherwise, I keep watching because I love Who, especially the first season of this recent run, and I'm prepared to look back after an amazing second half and say 'wow I never saw that coming. what a fool I've been'.

Don't forget all the costume changes.

Yup.

Episodes are "The Three Doctors", "The Five Doctors "and er the imaginatively titled "The Two Doctors".

Amazing trailer for the second half of the series. Can't wait for John Simm to show up. I thought that this week's episode would be terrible, so was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be way better than last week's. Some natty CGI - someone's been watching the end of the Mummy Returns. OMG The Rock's plasticine face on the scorpion! Far more acceptable on a telly budget! I wonder what Saxon's lackey whispered to Martha's mum...

Was it me or did some of the costumes look like what previous doctors have worn? I haven't seen much Who apart from this series - but something seemed familiar.

I really enjoyed this weeks episode - and thought the monster was really quite scary.

Okay, that's the best advert for the show they've ever done. Looks really, really good - anyone know who the writer is? (crosses fingers for Paul Cornell...)

I'm very excited - it looks like it could be a classic. There's so many things happening packed in there and also stunningly different things too.

This week's episode was great although I was a bit disappointed with the look of the face of the monster. It should of looked a touch more like Gatiss, but they handled all the scenes with the monster in rather brilliantly. Also interesting that the Doctor could well put a spanner in the works of the already dsyfunctional Jones family...

Some great Doctor-isms too - how living forever isn't the best thing in the world and how someone can achieve more in 20 years than 80. Great stuff!
