Doctor Who

Whilst we're on a 7th Doc and Ace kick its seems the perfect time to remind everyone that

Survival was released on DVD today. I'll be getting it mainly for the extra features one of which is a 45 minute documentary about S27 the one that didnt happen. It'll be worth owning for that alone IMO. Plus The last scene of Sylv and Sophie heading to the TARDIS always makes me sad.

"Somewhere the Tea's getting Cold, Come on Ace, we've got work to do"

It's not a great "finale" though is it. Hale & Pace were has beens even then weren't they?

It's a shame they didn't get another season with McCoy, because it was nearly good again. Fenric, Ghost Light - if they'd capitalised on these darker toned stories it might have caught a second wind. But then, we might not be where we are now. I think it was a worthwhile sacrifice, don't you?

I'm torn because without the long break I'd have not had the New Adventures which made me totally fall in love with the show. Then again I think another season would have been a success, especially with where they were taking the Doctor and Ace. However I do think the break and the failed American attempt did mean a lot of fans got the chance to become successful in TV and thus now we have Doctor Who back and more successful than its ever been.

I mean its joyous for me to come in this thread and find out pretty much everyone is loving S3, (can we ban Ryan from the thread though as he obviously doesnt get Who) :) :) :) Not only that but the general public seem to have taken to the show in a way that not even Tom Baker managed.

It's been successful in the past but the viewing figures it gets are astounding for telly sci-fi show in this country not only that but their watching in their millions and loving it. I'd not have expected an Appreciation index of 85 for Gridlocked but the general public thought it was great telly.

I mean it about the Radio Times cover too, I'd avoid newsagents, tesco's and Asda until Saturday night.

I watched 'Time and the Rani' last week. I remember watching it live back in 1987 (was it then???!!!) and cringing big time at McCoy's 'acting'.

Its still pretty awful today. The Regeneration is awful. I know CB didnt want to do it and appreciate why but surely they could have made a better job than they did.

However, i do think that 'one more season' may have helped enormously. As stated above, it was getting 'good' again.

Time hasnt been kind to Rememberance IMO though. If people think the music is intrusive now with the new series, its even worse during this story!!

I dont mind a bit of Keff McCullochs music though :)

As for Time and the Rani. utter utter tosh. That and Timelash are the worst of Doctor Who.

I read a description on Outpost Gallifrey of how the cover star of the Radio Times comes to be in the episode. Regardless to say, children everywhere won't be sleeping well on Saturday night. Here's a clue:

The Thing. Oh yes.

But thats how they talk from Noi Joisey.

It's the exaggerated delivery that makes me want to kill the actresses in the trailer. I'm probably insulting people actually from New Jersey who are speaking in their normal voices, but cling onto the hope that I'm dissing Rada-trained plums.

Isnt she the boid from Spukes :(

Perhaps the New Joisey accent was even more pronounced during the depression?

Or maybe it's the result of Dalek experiments :(

Really looking forward to this Saturday's ep; I feel that even the best single episode stories can still feel a little rushed/squashed together, New Who's really been at its best in double parters. Add in some Daleks, and the fact that they're not appearing in a finale (which will hopefully mean we won't have to go through the process of loads of them being introduced and then whipped away in the final minutes) and we could well have something very nice indeed here.
