Doctor Who

Thought this one was a bit dull. Also: must there be a fucking gay reference in every single bloody show? The next time I hear a rumour about the gay mafia controlling the media in order to take over the world, I'll not it's true.

Next week looks fucking class, though.

I liked that, a weird episode but it worked.

But there's one thing that's annoying me now, and thats the lack of originality when it comes to their alien designs these days. We've had space cats (twice), space rhinos, space crabs, what appeared to be some kind of hairy space monkey and next week we have space pigs (again). For FUCKS sake, the Ood were brilliant but other than them we've had nothing but the Slitheen.

The thing is, I've thoroughly enjoyed all the epsiodes these have appeared in, but I can't help but feel I'd have been far more impressed if they'd made an effort with the aliens in them. Even just recycling old badguys it would be preferable to this space zoo they've got at the moment.

The daleks AGAIN! hooray!

Kids love the Daleks and the kids spend a fortune on Dalek toys. I'm happy for there to be a few Dalek episodes if it keeps the money rolling in and the stories stay good.

The Daleks have been in some crackers so far.

In the 'next week' clip, it looked like there might be a retro Dalek? Also, great line about 'They always survive, I lose everything.!

To be fair, the space crabs are 40 years old.

So...

The Master

?

I thought Boe's wording was very odd, describing the Doctor as "the last of [his] kind" before saying "you are not alone".

This suggests to me he's not referring to anything as simple as simply another Time Lord. Possibly some kind of embodiment of the dark side of the Doctor, but not another survivor of the Time War.

Alternatively, it could just be bad writing I suppose.

Still, another cracking episode - three out of three now so far - although I'm disappointed the Face of Boe has now snuffed it. I guess we'll never get to find out what happened to the Balls of Boe now.

You know, I only thought that one was 'okay'. I think me and Lime have switched roles. ;) I just thought there was far too much talking - "this happened, then this happened" and not much action. That's real, in a sense that The Doctor does usually turn up in the middle of things and doesn't often see the beginning, middle and end of anything, but I just felt myself screaming 'get out of the fucking cars!' But still top TV - better than anything else on the box.

What's with next week's being on at 6.35pm? Will the Beeb stop fucking about with the time, please?

That's what I want. More talking, less running down corridors.

Doctor Who was always about talking.

I really loved that one. It was End of the World standard. Which is high praise, because I loved End of The World.

Up there with the best of them. That was magnificent!

The whole concept was brilliant, and no doubt a response to all the criticisms about the series being too Earth-centric. A great big traffic jam trapped beneath a dead city to save their lives, the only problem being the lack of power or personel to set them free. This wasn't just great Who, it was great sci-fi.

EDIT: Also, I think Bo added some pretty big logs to the you-know-who rumour fire.

Phew.

I was worried I was on my own. From concept up, this episode was top fucking notch. It had everything. And I think Tennant really arrived tonight. Really arrived.

He's been pretty much ace since Army of Ghosts, I think, but his performance this season has been absolutely spot on and never more so than tonight. He's really sussed how he wants to play the character now.

Phew two, I completely agree with you.

I loved the whole idea of it. Brilliant.

I also enjoyed this episode's 'Yes, yes, no, no!' moment ;)
