'Inappropriate' scene cut from 'Doctor Who'

Monday, March 5 2007, 09:22 GMT

By Dave West

An "inappropriate" underwater scene was cut from an episode of Doctor Who, David Tennant has revealed.

Actress Freema Agyeman, as loyal assistant Martha Jones, apparently stripped down to her underwear for the piece. The footage will never be seen however, thanks to producers who decided it should be cut.

"There was an underwater scene in a draft of the new series but we nixed it out," explained Tennant. "It was bordering on inappropriate. You can't have shagging in the Tardis."

As a casual watcher of the hit and miss Torchwood and as someone who never looks at this thread because you're all spoilerly bastards, I was surprised to see John Barrowman spill the plot line beans and the secret motivation of his character on Al Murray's show.

I visited my first non South Wales based Who location on the weekend.

Myself, the missus and a bunch of mates vistied Aldbourne on Sunday. Location for the Daemons, lovely place it was as well. I had a pint in the Cloven Hoof(Blue Boar is its real name)

Stood in the Churchyard where the Brig uttered the immortal.

"JENKINS, CHAP WITH THE WINGS, FIVE ROUNDS RAPID"

Also went to Children of the Stones location Avebury, which was a very impressive place.

I bought Doctor Who Magazine this month for the free Big Finish CD, expecting it to be a Paul McGann / Cyberman story. It's just a bunch of bloody trailers and a few interviews. I'm a bit pissed off about it to be honest as there was no way to tell without un-sealing the magazine in the shop, and I wouldn't have bought it otherwise.

On a vaguely related note, after thoroughly enjoying the Big Finsh BBC7 series, I've started collecting the BF Paul McGann audio dramas. I'm up to the last episode of the second one at the moment, which is a superb Cyberman story. It's really quite amazing how the team can conjure up such amazing imagery with nothing but sound at their disposal, often creating a setting far more believable than CGI could ever do. I've got the third and fourth ones on the way now, and I can't wait.

I've heard that the Paul McGann stories go right downhill about halfway - around Zagreus, I think.

I... found... a few of the Big Finish stories and tbh I'm glad I didn't buy them. There's good and bad in there and no real way of telling until you've paid your money and stuck the CD on. Of the five I've listened to so far, Spare Parts is probably the only one I'd pay for.

Aside from going to places like outpost gallifrey and checking out the huge review page they have there. Kinda burned out of the audios atm and having a break from them. Was a time in the not too distant past when the latest one was all the new who (aside from books) that we'd get.

BF got burned by Zagreus a bit I think. There was such a huge amount of expectation around it that there was no way it could live up to it.

One of my team in work just bumped into that bloke of Human Traffic in town just 10 mins ago.

Yeah, I've tried that. If I could find one that didn't give a detailed synopsis of the whole plot and/or was nice and concise, that might work.

Also, from the first two reviews for The Genocide Machine:

"Overall this is great Doctor Who. Of the futuristic stories it is definitely the best (I've listened to them all up to 16, the 1st McGann one). 9/10."

"Suffice it to say that without the twists of the final episode, “The Genocide Machine” would be one of those notorious clangers like “The Creature From The Pit” or “Underworld.” Thankfully it at least can be regarded as a ‘traditional’ adventure, although it doesn’t come highly recommended!"

I didn't like it at all.

I've got a friend who works at the Beeb and they have said that Shaun Williamson has a 'fairly good' chance of becoming the next Dr Who!

I've got a friend who works on the show and he says Your having a giraffe.

Its gonna be Dawn French next :(

BBC 4 are showing an episode of Web of Fear on the 18th March (seems to be part of some London Underground Night or something). Only the single episode though - although I'm not sure if this is one of the stories that's incomplete?

If its a Troughton, its more than likely its incomplete. Which it is.

It's such a shame that so many of his episodes were lost. He's one of my favourite Doctors, and as I didn't have the luxury of being alive when they were first shown, I'll probably never see most of his stuff. <_<

obviously they are bringing gallifrey back

or it might be something else....

The teaser makes it look more like "the Doctor's world meets Martha's world", if you know what I mean.

"Collide" suggests they might not get on too well, at least initially. And it must be said that she does look mighty stroppy in pretty much all of the shots I've seen of her so far.

Hmmmm. Not too sure about that ad. Has the 'companion clashes with doctor' beat every really played out satisfyingly? Mardy companions like Leela and Tegan never really seem to get anywhere with the Doctor - you're better off treating him lightly like Sarah Jane. I think the fact the new companion's black makes this teaser a seem a little bit like 'Uh oh. Look who's moved in next door...' in a seventies Love Thy Neighbour style, which I'm a bit uncomfortable with, although I might be being oversensitive there.
