Why do you need to be 12 again? I've just had a 12 inch Cyberman turn up from Amazon. Bargain at £9.99.

Hehe, I just get to buy them due to my sons fondness for them. Had a panic yesterday as I realised I'd forgotten to get him the Captain Jack figure he asked for Xmas.

Strolled into Tesco and there he was.

The TARDIS playset is a thing of beauty though. It has the background hum running constantly when its switched on

Love Charlie Brooker's description of Torchwood in this week's The Guide:

...the award for the Year's Most Jarring Show goes to the Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood, which somehow managed to feel like both a multi-coloured children's show and a heaving sex-and-gore bodice-ripper at the same time. The constant clash of mutually-incongruous tones meant watching it felt like stumbling across a hitherto secret episode of Postman Pat in which Pat runs down 15 villagers while masturbating at the wheel of his van. Interesting, but possibly aimed at madmen.

I saw the repeat of the latest Torchwood episode today, having missed it on Sunday, and I think it was the best one yet, by some way. It was far better written than most of the series, as well as being better shot, better scored and better acted.

I concur that this week's episode was the best yet, a significant step up in terms of writing, acting and indeed pretty much everything. A bit of melancholy really suits Torchwood. Shame next week's looks like a return to form, though - dark alleyways, flashing lights and everyone running around shouting.

I'm finding Owen increasingly laughable, too. It's so obvious the part was written for someone who was at least passably good-looking and a convincing ladies' man. The fact they then went and cast someone who looks like a chimp has completely undermined the whole thing, although it's often unintentionally hilarious with it.
