Doctor Who

He's already mentioned that Martha's family isn't going to be anywhere near the same kind of family as Rose's were. But people do have families, you know. I'd rather this than people simply stepping aboard the Tardis, and not giving a shit about their Aunt who has just been killed outside.

Has anyone else been switched on to the books since this thread began? Specifically the mind blowingly awesome 8th doctor? Fuck me, all the props I had for Russel T modernising the series, little did I know it had been done years before.

Don't know about the books, but I'm loving the 8th Doctor Big Finish audios.

I've only read three of the books, but they're all 8th Doctor ones, and they're all good. Especially The Gallifrey Chronicles, which is superb.

On a more RTD note though, the Christmas Special was repeated yesterday, and it was even better second time arround. The music is probably the best its ever been in the new series for a start, and it striked a really good balance between humour and seriousness. The sword fight seemed a lot better too for some reason.

"Sycorax strong. Sycorax mighty. Sycorax... rock."

It seems BBC3 are repeating the first series again next week. I think someone's gearing up for Torchwood.

DJ and former Top of the Pops presenter Reggie Yates will feature as Martha Jones's brother Leo in Series Three of Doctor Who. Joining him to complete the Jones clan are Trevor Laird, who will play dad Clive, Adjoa Andoh as mum Francine, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as sister Tish. Former Casualty actress Andoh previously appeared as cat nun Sister Jatt in the episode New Earth. Laird is a Who veteran too, having played Frax in The Trial Of A Time Lord twenty years ago.

REGGIE YATES, DAMMIT.

I wasnt the only one whinging about the tylers and the over reliance of stories set in modern day london.

Trips home back to see mummy and daddy ruin the core premise of the show. The doctor is lost in space and time. Set adrift by himself, and now his race and planet are gone, he is even more lost.

The doctor is a wanderer, doesnt like to settle in one place too long, so why would he want to pop home to his companions mums for tea?

I'd prefer to see him travel to the far flung future, alien worlds, ancient times and be there for more than one episode bookmarked by feelgood trips home.

see Tom Baker.....

You can download an e-book at the Doctor Who homepage. Nightshade, by Mark Gatiss.

And a solid little book it is too. His first and probably his best Who work.

I managed to nab a copy of Just War by Lance(he should be writing Telly Who) Parkin, last month for the decent sum of £9.99. One of the final NA's I had to read ;) Very good it is too.

Im just finishing resurrection casket, it is very good. interestingly it was written before a single tennant episode had been shown to the writer.

Have a few 8th doctor books too. Kind of feel that hes a bit special since he never got a tv series. To my mind the big finish series is his actual series and the novels the sort of off shoots....

Really do not understand why Russell doesnt do a spin off called 8th doctor adventures or something and have mcgann come back to reprise the role, even for a small series.

Sounds better than Rose fucking tyler: Earth defence force.

Bonkers. He must have had access to scripts, or edited in some Tennantisms. The style matches his portrayal perfectly at times.

Agree on the 8th Doctor adventures, though it's never going to happen. ;)

Wouldn't it be great to have the odd episode based on McGanns Doctor?

Thats just so odd to me as McGann WAS the 8th Doctor when the books started getting published in 96 and pre-date the 8th Doctor Audios by quite some time.

I agree with the sentiments about letting him have another pop, but it aint gonna happen.
