Doctor Who

That's gorgeous. I'm still living in hope that the Cyber-Helmet voice changer thing will be adult-sized, because that'd be the best thing ever.

The best thing ever would be renting one of the Cyberman outfits from the BBC. I'd do that for a Halloween party, or maybe just for going to the shops.

Doctor Who spin-off cancelled!

Luckily, it's not Torchwood, but something called "Rose Tyler: Earth Defence". Not heard of that one before.

No, neither had she:

"We hadn't formally approached Billie," said Davies, "although we'd mentioned it to her."

I was just reading the registers coverage of the same story as it happens:

And it'll take what? One, Two lines of dialogue to sort that out?

This is true, however this is my one problem with the new series. They seem to think that clever throwaway lines to explain things are an ok idea, but sometimes they do these lines, which add mystery then take it away again by using that line as the basis for a story thread.

for instance "I was a dad once" would have been a nice nod to the older fans who know about susan and would have firmly placed her as the doctors biological granddaughter. It should be left there at that, not turned into "Oh well the doctor has a son and when the doctor dies the show will become about his son."

Its a terrible idea and would bring about the end of the show (again) by removing some of the mystery of the doctor.

While Russel T davies does a bang up job, he does occassionaly make terrible decisions. Killing Chris Ecclestone being one.

And ideally what they want to do now is forget london, leave it behind. Let the doctor become an alien wanderer again instead of a nice uncle who takes london council estate girls off in his magic blue box.

The idea of the doctor having a son came up around the time of the very first doctor and was poo-pooed as watering the mystery of who down. Lets hope its just typical tabloid BS.

The series 3 press release doesn't once mention London, which is promising.

As for the Master, The Gallifrey Chronicles sees him comunicating with the Doctor from inside the Eye at one point. The books may not be canon, but surely the idea of him surviving in some form is an attractive one?

Eh? Did I miss something. I though it was left at that.

And I don't think RTD decided to remove Eccleston.

True Eccles leaving was his decision and nothing to do with RTD(well unless you count the rumours)

As for I had a son once. Dont believe the tabloid press, it aint gonna happen. It was one line and it'll be left at that.

It's talked about in this month's DWM. It got fully commissioned and budgeted by the BBC, but Russell decided to cancel it, because he thought it would ruin the ending of Series Two if we saw Rose running about without the Doctor. It should be left up to the viewer as to what she gets up to.

While Russel T davies does a bang up job, he does occassionaly make terrible decisions. Killing Chris Ecclestone being one.

Eh?

He did no such thing.

Hey, you know those Cyberman Voice Changer Helmets? Do they not fit adults? Cos they look big enough, and an eBay auction I've seen says they are.

Pay day today see :)

Yes, apparently they do! They're 1:1 scale, and Jonathan Ross was playing about with one on the radio this morning, so it must've fit him, and he's a big fella! Ooh, I can't wait.
