Doctor Who

I suppose I should get the same, cos I like Happiness Patrol and dont mind Delta and the

Bannermen

The Happiness Patrol is okay too and I still think that Paradise Towers isn't as awful as people remember it. In fact the Simon Pegg ep from the Ecclestone era borrowed a fair amount from PT.

Kids these days won't like either of them though.

Actually kids of today, if you're missing Dr Who whilst they make more, you might want to try Curse of Fenric. It's aces.

That's interesting. What was the first Who everyone else saw?

First one I remember? Creature from the Pit I think. I had a vivid childhood memory of the luminous green Erato rolling over the Doctor. I had snippets of scenes from City of Death and Destiny of the Daleks lodged in my brain too, specifically the Scaroth reveal, and the Doctor being trapped beneath the stone pillar.

Nice little fact for you here my English teacher who was a part time actor was in Dr Who. Cant remeber who he played but it was a villan.

Edit:- David Telfer : Huntsman, turns out he was in the creature from the pit.

Surely there is a Doctor somewhere in her Universe.

Well there's a Torchwood and the only reason for its existence in our Universe was to defend the Earth against Aliens and the Doctor.

I hope she finds him.

This, except I hope it turns out that the 'other' Doctor is actually an evil Time Lord, and he's the main villain throughout the story arc of series 3.

Give Torchwood a real reason to protect the Earth.

We all watched it again tonight and enjoyed it just as much all over again... and the long goodbye was just as moving.

At the end the kids only had two questions:

Kids: How did the runaway bride get into the Tardis?

Dad: You'll find out on Christmas Day.

Kids. What, next Christmas Day? You mean when Santa comes? [looks at sun shining outside] That's ages away!

Dad: Yes!

I might as well have told them they'll find out when they're 21.

And in reply to someone's question earlier, my first Who memory is of the Giant Robot, although all I can remember is it stomping about next to some old building. The first one I can remember watching and having some vague understanding of what was going on is Genesis which sent me behind the settee (we didn't have sofas in Nottingham in them days) in traditional fashion.

Now someone will pop up and tell me the Giant Robot didn't appear until 1978.

It was either Castrovalva or The Five Doctors, for me. Brother was obsessed as a boy, and would have videos on almost 24/7. Can't remember which actual one, but it was certainly one of the two.

My mother watched it on video tonight.

She blubbed when Billie was heading towards the void, blubbed at the beach scene, and then blubbed during Confidential when they were talking about it.

Success!

I really wish Billie Piper had got a face-first taste of the void. Ah, well. Solid episode overall, but not quite Parting of the Ways standard. I mean, the beach scene in this was nowhere near the sob-fest of the hologram bit a year ago. Also, as others have already said, plot holes large enough to remove an entire Dalek and Cyberman army, but I'm not gonna go over that again. The 'war' was practically non-existant too. The Rose emotional baggage has always sucked as well. Hmm...maybe on second thoughts this episode wasen't all that. S2 not as good as Series One overall then. So what was everyone's favourite episode of this season then? I'll plump for Idiot's Lantern.

School Reunion - Sarah Jane rocks.

The Girl in the Fireplace - beautiful love story.

The Impossible Planet & The Satan Pit - dark and different. Broke the series up nicely.

Army of Ghosts - brilliantly paced.

Doomsday - sob fest.

Christopher Eccleston as the evil Time Lord please. Possibly with a moustache.

the master must have a goatee... it is the law. All the best evil characters must have a goatee. See Blackadder, Evil Spock, Ming, Garthe Knight and The Master.

Nope, from memory it was Baker's first jaunt. I distinctly remember bits of the story where Pertwee was 'killed' but I think further reminder viewing would help me remember earlier eps. I have a strong sense of struggling to choose between pertwee and baker in my earlier days so my exposure to pertwee was probably quite long-ish. At least in childhood terms, so that could be anything around a year upwards. Baker won out my childhood who affections in the end, quite rightly so I expect but I think they all have something to love, although it would be true to say that my experience of McCoy is severely limited. Ironically I loved McCoy in his earlier 'role' in Vision On, alongside Tony Hart and the 'team'. I'm pretty vague about the 'team' without seeing it again, maybe Toni Arthur was in there or is my childhood recollection getting mixed up with Play Away?

How's that for time travel?, I didn't look anything up on google either. I'm such a silly Hector. I think I just alienated 99.9% of the viewing public.

The first memory is of Planet of the Daleks. Scarred my impressionable young mind for years - Dalek fear!

The first one where I can remember much of the story is probably The Green Death.

woohoo.. I'm in the top 20 posters in this thread. Does that make me awesome?

How do you find that out?

first Who I can remember is the one where Tom Baker turned into Peter Davison. I loved PD as Dr Who - but couldn't stand Colin Baker. I was but a child, and I just couldn't get used to this new character...

gave up entirely by the time Sylvester McCoy came round - which is a shame.

How do you find that out?
