The comment about switching brain off and just enjoy has sorta made me think about how i viewed this series. I really enjoyed the last series but i think that because my brain was switched off. This series their have been quite a few episodes i didn't like towards the start which i think has made me a little to focused on the bad points and in doing that i think i've just been looking for excuses. I still feel the last episode relied way to much on what ifs to explain parts of the story and the the plot just wasn't put together well enough.

Don't get me wrong aesthetically i think it looked great and the effects were done well and i quite enjoyed the action which i think saved it from total failure just the plot and script let it down. RTD the UK version of George Lucas, it looks great but the plot and script is all wrong.

Anyways i'm off to the Maldives on my honeymoon see u in 2 weeks.

Choices? Does this mean there's a universe where the doctor and rose are STILL together?

Interestingly enough, the TV series that I'm currently developing has the whole "parallel universes, what happens to a set of characters in each of them" thing as the premise.

When The Doctor was giving his little speech at the end, I was half-smiling and half-cursing RTD.

I'm assuming that there are non Lumic Industries Cybermen in our universe - perhaps much older and more organised - and more deadly.

The Daleks really did make mince meat out of the cybermen... something these 2 series have done really well is demonstrate just how dangerous the Daleks are. There's a reason that the only folks that could defeat them were the Timelords, and in doing so, they had to wipe themselves out.

Right - my bets are on the Master returning next series, with the Dr obviously finding out that he's not the last timelord left after all.

Hope RTD keeps the Master's chinny and ruff.

The last episode got the full twelve thumbs up from my family!

Rollicking good fun from beginning to end, an explanation for why he kept wearing those 3D glasses and a very moving last few minutes. And a comedy hook into the Christmas special which now can't come quickly enough. Plus Daleks wiping the floor with Cybermen. What more could anyone want?

One thing with our kids was that none of them followed that the Doctor and Rose are now separated for ever. The emotion of their parting and goodbye went over their 7, 5 and 3 year old heads as (in the words of the 5 year old) "Doctor Who can go and visit her in his Tardis". I think the whole parallel universe thing was a bit too much for them but it didn't stop them enjoying it on their own level. And of course it means there will be extra layers that they discover as they re-watch the series in the future.

Next Saturday we're starting last year's series again (watching an episode a week as usual). The kids didn't watch it last year so for them it will be like a prequel. We can't wait!

shark jumping ahoy!

Bollocks.

When we get an episode featuring the daleks, the cybermen, the master, Rose, the timelords, sil,McCoy,Davison and Colin Baker all appearing, then you can say its jumped the shark. And only then

I just realised the thread is now defunct for another year

No more New Who every saturday. And regardless of the arguements and the fact some people just cant accept we have different opinions, I'd like to say its been as fun as the thread was way back when S1 started.

No matter how bad people think some episodes have been, I'd like to think the fact in 2 seasons we've not had one Timelash or time and the Rani is a bloody great thing. As is the amount of people that watch and now love this silly ridiculous gem of a TV series.

So a big thank you for entertaining me and making this thread great, thats to all the usual suspects. Here's to Torchwood and Season 3.

I bet DSD won the most posts in the Who thread again :)

Hey man, I worry. I'm alright this week though, as the ratings have risen every week since The Satan Pit.

It's Dotterel's fault. He told me if they kept up like this, they'd move it to BBC 2. He knew I wouldn't get any sleep that night.
