Doctor Who

overall, it was a bit rubbish, really. it was nice to see the cybermen and daleks, although, I really do hope they're not used at all for at least another 20 series'. and most of the other 'issues' with the final couple of scenes that have been brought up here already irked as well.

also, because they needed the big reveal at the end of the first part, the final part seemed just incredibly rushed. daleks appear, genesis ark introduced and used within 10 minutes, doctor works out solution within 2 minutes, some crap about rose's family and fin. and catherine tate? fuck. off.

Again?

He could press the button if he was in the wrong place and reposition. In fact, for all we know he might have already done that at the other end of the room.

why didn't he get sucked through? or does it take some time for the void to get a pull on things when they're about half a metre away?

Okay.

Pete argues with Jackie for a bit. She persuades him to go an talk Rose into returning. He presses the button and appears off camera on the other side of the room - just as Rose is hanging off the lever. So he jumps back to Petes World, runs to the correct spot and presses the button again.

He does get sucked but he's quick enough grab Rose and press the button.

So the timing and the position were luck?

He's a lucky guy.

No.

He's playing a part on TV. Jesus, the storyline involved a void between two parallel universes, two imaginery alien races, and an alien lead character travelling through time and space, yet you're concerned about how a man happened to materialise in a certain place?

Some people really are taking this too seriously.

You analyse any TV show to this level, and you kill it. It just becomes a load of people standing in front of a camera, reading out lines written by someone else. You killed it.

You killed Doctor Who.

Oh My God.

Sprite machine and Duncan...what is wrong with you?

Are people no longer able to let themselves just enjoyt things these days without all this crazy over-analysis...!?

It's quite amazing seeing you trying to break things down this this. How can he have come through at the right time in the right place!? How? How? How? How?

Lucky things happen all the time. People are often say stuff like 'Oh if I'd been there two seconds earlier, I'd have been killed...or one metre to the left...'.

Maybe in a parallel universe he did miss her. <_<

Anyways, Dr Who is a bit of fun on a Saturday evening and I'd bet the majority of the people viewing the programme would have thought 'Oh no!' then cheered or smiled as Pete appeared and saved her!

That seems to be the feeling in the office this morning.

If it doesn't stand up to basic scrutiny, it can't be enjoyed. I wish I could turn my brain off like some people.

(Note: That's not to say I didn't enjoy it at all, 'cos I did. Just could have been better.)

But, the reasons you've brought up do stand up.

The bit with Pete saving Rose was just a case of 'right place, right time'. I don't see why that is so bad?

I thought there were bad parts to the episode, but this wasn't because it didn't stand up to scrutiny.

It felt forced, is all.

It was dramatic, though. It wouldn't have been quite as exciting if we'd have cut to him saying 'Right, I popped in behind them, saw where she was, and now I am going to pop back and grab her, so no-one has to worry about her falling into the void'.

NEVER put me and sprite machine in the same catagory again!

I'm all for suspension of disbelief, but those bits were just stupid. And you're happy that they introduced all those things and wrapped it all up in 45 minutes? WELL GOOD FOR YOU.

:)

Like I said. I thought there was plenty wrong but also a lot right.

All in all, it was enjoyable. I just hope we don't see the Daleks cracking jokes too often.

I enjoyed it and I'm glad Rose is gone. It did also prove that Daleks are better than Cybermen.

What I can't take is how ungrateful Rose was. Yes I understand that she was in love with the Doctor and made her choice to stay with him, but given the choice between living out her life in another reality with her family against a (presumably short) stay in a void full of Daleks and Cybermen, I know which I would have chosen.

She has a dad again, Mickey is the man she probably wanted him to be and all three of them will move heaven and earth (within their limited capability) to pander to her needs. She also has a job at Torchwood so she still gets to touch upon extraterrestrial life.

And she's still not happy.

In fact the Sarah Jane story was a warning to her that no matter what the Doctor says, she will have to re-integrate into normal life.

I can't feel sorry for her. She effectively got what she'd been searching for for 2 seasons.

Eh? That wasn't her choice. It was life with Jackie or The Doctor. She chose the latter (a choice she'd made long ago, as she said) - and I agree with her. You have to live your own life.

Besides, she'd accepted the outcome and was making the best of it (Torchwood etc.) but she was understandbly devastated at losing the Doctor.

But the choice shifted. It became a choice between a life with her family or certain death in a void full of daleks and cybermen which admittedly she didn't make, but if she'd had the time to make the decision, what do you think she would have chosen?

She never chose certain death. She chose life with the Doctor, which sadly didn't happen. I don't understand your point at all.

Bum! I accidentally deleted the last post.

What I mean (and what the story was showing) is that life is a series of choices, not just a single one.

I've not explained it very well. Basically, I don't really like Rose. Leela was my favorite.
