Doctor Who

If it was The Master, he could've come out of the Ark and been all 'LOL I TRICKED YOU ALL' then he coulda fucked off into space or whatever, leaving it open for him to come back in the next series.

But no.

Davies should stick to writing dramas about gays.

Me at the end --> :D:D:(:D:( ... :(:(:(:D

Truly excellent stuff, and I'm afraid I'll have to join the tear in the eye brigade. I'm a little worried about the inclusion of Catherine Tate for the Christmas special though, although the Doctor's reaction at the end was priceless. :)

Also loved his reaction when Rose was heading to the void - really insanely emotive. Not too sure about teh Tate though, hoping it's not some kind of BBC plot to get her as the new companion. :D

(Yes, I know who the new, new companion is. Especially great-looking in a maid's outfit, hemhem.)

I was hoping the Doctor was going to say "I love you" on the wind or something like that.

Catherine Tate at the end was a bit jarring though for me personally, I know they have to continue into the next story, get hyped up for Christmas and everything but....ah well.

It was definitely the right time for Billie to go and they sent her out in the best possible way, fantastic 45 minutes of telly.

My missus is still sniffing a bit, bless er.

I thought that was great, by the standards of the new Who. Especially, especially the Daleks being so totally contemptuous toward the Cybermen. Yeah, the solution was a deus ex machina, but it was so much more fun and dramatic than the stupid Cyberman emotion chips. So many memorable, fantastic moments, and so few shit ones. Davies can write a really great episode when he's actually trying.

...and I really, really hope they have the Black Dalek as a recurring villain in the next series - I think having a single antagonist behind a few of the threats the Doctor faces, rather than just having him blunder into something dangerous every week, could help the series feel a bit more consistent.

I've got such high hopes for the next series. With any luck, the writers will have learned from their mistakes this time around, Davies won't constantly be fawning over his special Mary Sue and the pacing might even be better.

For me personally, there's only one problem episodes like this. They had this grand idea for the Cybermen vs the Daleks, but clearly don't have the budget to see it through. It's a shame we couldn't see some epic battles in the city streets. Instead it's all resolved too quickly and easilly without any action really kicking off.

Put me down for the "welling up at the end" brigade. Loved it.

Surprised this is getting such a positive reaction.

One of the worst I've seen.

EDIT: Actually, I'm maybe being a bit harsh, but only because I'm disappointed. Sometimes a few really bad moments can be enough to kill an episode. And this had some really bad moments. As for the dialogue, well, in places it was some of the worst shite I've heard on TV. Really poor. Maybe old RTD is getting a bit bored of the subject matter. He's got really rich characters to play with, and frankly he did a piss poor job on this one.

The bit at the end was nice though, until he fucked it up by sticking Catherine Tate in there for some last minute gurning.

*Plot hole*

Some of the Cybermen haven't been through the void, they must have been made on earth so not all of them should have been sucked through.

Also didn't Pete say those doo daa's take one person only? But unless I'm mistaken he grabbed Rose and took her back just with his? Could be wrong though.

?

I thought they were all made on "Pete's World" and came through the Void. There were no Cybermen on our Earth. Which ones were on our Earth originally?

I must be easily pleased but I pretty much enjoyed every minute of that episode.* The Dalek v Cybermen banter was good, for species with little emotions they sure get easily irrated! The Daleks walking all over the Cybermen was a scary sight considering the weight of the two enemies. Now we finally know who'd win in a fight, unless of course "our" universe Cybermen were stronger in some way... Hmm

I think Davies does a very good finale to a series and I think he was best at handling the Daleks and Cybermen for the too. I'm not worried about Catherine Tate too much, I always got the idea that it was her material that was shit not her actual characterisations. Not that I've ever watched her though, so I could be wrong.

*I also welled up at the end :D

Russell T. Davies is maybe the worst "comedy" writer working in telly.

You're dead to me now. Simply the wrongest thing you've ever said on here.

Pete - "You didn't get married?"

Jackie - "No. There was no-one else."

*The Doc and Mickey look at each other.*

:D

The dialogue between the Daleks and the Cybes at the beginning was awful and campy. Well, it might have worked with more menacing delivery I guess.

The rest of the episode was decent, up until the last 20 seconds, which made me want to fucking destroy my TV.

What about the ones in the office and the whole boss woman, either it's a plot twist where they will try to form a Cybermen torchwood for Christmas or it's a plot hole.

Yeah.

I'm sure he'd write some good panto.

Which the conversations between the Daleks and Cybermen absolutely were.

They were completed here. By which I mean their brains were put inside the suit. But if the suit had come through the void rather than being built here, it would still have been sucked back through. And I assume the suits were brought through because they would have had fuck all time to build them in this world.
