Doctor Who

todays teaser doesn't really reveal anything -

4 daleks in the void ship room surrounding the genesis ark, Mickey and Rose looking on. Dr is listening in to what's happening. Daleks say 'we must protect the genesis ark' - cut to Dr's face, looking puzzled and saying to himself - 'genesis ark?'

I still maintain that...

The Genesis Ark is Davros

nah - I think it's something that helps them create more daleks. Other than genesis of the daleks, davros was a bit shit imho - and was irrelevant to the future of the daleks.

... also, to the thousands of new fans, Davros doesn't really mean anything.

Really, really hope so.

To thousands of new fans, neither the Daleks or the Cybermen meant anything before.

How dare you.

The big D was great in the first story, and admittedly became a bit more panto as it went on. Nonetheless, I did enjoy his rants, even if he did just get trundled out for no reason.

They could really do something special with him here though.

the problem I've got with re-introducing Davros is that he's very old school Who and wrapped up in the mythos. With the daleks as a faceless enemy, they can quite happy mess around with the story and still not contradict things. Surely introducing Davros to this would just confuse things.

Also - I didn't watch the whole Sylvestor Who stuff - with Davros disguised as the Emperor etc... but is it conceivable that Davros would be in charge of the Daleks during the Time War... or perhaps it's possible that Davros had his own little bunch of seperate Daleks and, seeing their inevitable destruction from Time, he created the void ship. It's possible that he was the only one clever enough to do it...

I don't think they would have a problem introducing old villains. I'm pretty sure Davros got name-checked in "Dalek" anyway, didn't he?

It doesn't need much, just "Who's that Doctor?" - "Why it's Davros, creator of the Daleks".

I just think it would be a really cool way to end the season. I suspect I'm going to be disappointed.

Well, I'd like to see some old villains anyway, even if they re-write them. Surely at some point The Master has to make an appearance?

Well I'd have thought if last series was the Dalek season, this series was the Cyberman season then the Master would be next on the list for the mid-season threat, season finale master-plan routine.

And if they do bring him back, Davros should be a threat in his own right like he is in the Big Finish Audios...

Anyway what other big villains have we got? Yetis? Ice Warriors? Sea Devils? Sontarans?

As a viewer who has only watched the two new series, can I ask for good nasty NEW enemies please? Good ones, too ie. NOT the Slitheen.

I want a new mythos to tell the kids about, not just bits added on to the olds one.

For old watchers, the Cybermen and Daleks are probably pretty exciting, but for me they've got boring quite quickly and risk just turning into cliche.

the Master would be worth bringing back - the Dr needs a real arch nemesis. I reckon next year will be all about finding out he's not the last timelord left in the galaxy - there are others... including the Master.

Daleks? Boring? I won't hear of it.

The BARB has reported on the final ratings for Fear Her, the eleventh episode of the new season, aired on Saturday 24 June. The episode was watched by 7.14 million viewers, up approximately half a million viewers from the initial reported overnight, to come in sixth place all series and twentieth for the week (behind World Cup broadcasts, Children's Party at the Palace, and multiple episodes of EastEnders and Coronation Street). Of note, the episode's final rating is higher than any of those reported for the final four episodes of Series One.

Impressive.
