Doctor Who

That implies that history is set in stone and whatever is going to happen is unchangable. I prefer to think of it as "Unless we stop the Cybermen now, the future will be completely different to what we experienced". That's the least headache inducing way I can put it.

Rose and the Doctor had a conversation about this in The Unquiet Dead, where he says that history is in flux. Again in The Parting of the Ways, Jackie tries to console Rose by reminding her that the battle between the Doctor and the Daleks won't happen until hundreds of years in the future. In response, Rose claims that it's happening as they speak. The Doctor can travel anywhere in time and space at any time, so as far as he's concerned everything is happening at every time, and he's always moving forwards.

Makes perfect sense no? No? Oh well.

I'm glad you loved it Boyatsea, but do try not to be quite so fanatical.

You were fanatical in your dislike of Love & Monsters, and now you're being just as fanatical in your love of this. In both cases you clearly brook no dispute or debate.

Just chill out a bit, eh?

It was good though, wasn't it.

I don't mind debate. But I've spoken to Stu on msn about Who before, and he's told me he doesn't really like it, so why come into the thread and tell people who already know you don't like something that you still don't like it?

Stu's a good lad, but he was just trying to piss people off. I think it worked, in my case.

It was good though, wasn't it. :(

Love & Monsters made me cringe. This made me grin a big smile like I was 8 years old again.

I don't think it is, actually. Whatever's in there, I'm certain that it plays a part in Rose's departure.

But the name is so perfect!

Put it this way - RTD has gone out of his way to create this plotline, and if there's a big pay off I'll agree that it was justified. Having Davros appear at the climax to the season, leaving it wide open for him to feature in Season 3, is the sort of pay off I'll need to forgive the re-writing of the Cybermen. Anything else will feel like a bit of a damp squib.

That name though - a "Genesis (of the Daleks) Ark (as in a long lost, mythical artefact or power)" which trundles along like a Dalek, with a domed top just ripe for a reveal of a "human" head. It's GOT to be Davros!

I really hope so.

The Face of Bo (or however you spell it) also has to play some part, surely?

Not until August 2007?!?

They need to have that out before Christmas. Also hoping they've got a remote new-black-Dalek in the works, too. I want me one of them.

I'd buy a few of those. And some of those 12 inch Cybermen figures. I'd make them fight. I TOTALLY WOULD, I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS.

Army of Ghosts got 7.66 million on the overnight BARB figures. Looks like it was a good hangover cure for England fans, then. I know it was for me.

Episode 12 of the 'first series', Bad Wolf, managed 6.81 million - final figures, so that's pretty damn good.

If I was a big Who fanboy, I'd've been drooling throughout that episode!

I'm not, though, but I still thought it was ace. The 'absent' sphere concept was inspired, and the final run up to the big reveal had an excellent pace to it.

Finale next week, then. It'll probably be disappointing; most two-parters seem to have a great first part then finish off with a limp second.

I thought the whole concept of the void ship was quite clever. Inside that, the daleks are immune from the damage the time lords can do, and are also immune from being erased from time entirely. It's obvious they've taken whatever it is that they 'worship' or need to ensure their survival ... I really do wonder what's in it and if we'll find out.

Only 3 daleks have come out of the sphere - so - do they start spawning off loads of them very quickly using the "ark" to create an army...?

Possibly, but then the new series Daleks hardly need an army. One was enough to wipe the floor with an entire team of human soldiers in Dalek, and would have proceeded to repeat the process across the planetif it hadn't taken its own life. It took the raw power of the time vortex, channeled through the Tardis and Rose to beat the next lot, and from the latest trailer, it doesn't look like the Cybermen pose much of a threat to them.

This should prove interesting. :)

Something I noticed about the teasers. Or specifically the teaser for the recent episode. There was a shot in the teaser which many people pointed out where they walked into the artifact warehouse section of Torchwood and there was a black Dalek visible. The same shot was in the show, but there was no black Dalek, just some unknown object covered with black plastic or tarpaulin. Are they being a bit tricksy with their teasers? I'm not sure it was a case of mistaking the unknown random black object for a black Dalek.

I think it's worth mentioning the entire 'Tomb of the Cybermen' story is up on YouTube, definitely worth watching it if you haven't seen it. For my money it's the cybermen story.

I watched a piece of it, and it's strange to see this coming from my mouth, but I suddenly understand how some people like the older series more than the new. :)
