They didn't actuallly kill them though. He just kind of stood over them.

I thought the kidnapping of homeless people and Borg-style butchering of them to be turned into Cybermen set a far deadlier precedent for the eventual mansion siege where they actually killed folk.

And again, it was completely predictable.

I wasn't too struck by 'Tomb' - great set up, but with basically two rooms to play out the increasingly hysterical and melodramatic story beats in, it's becomes like a sci-fi 'Run for your wife'...

No-one's mentioned all the 'British Empire' stuff in last night's ep though, which I found pretty cute. Be nice if this became pivotal rather than just window dressing - I find what Davies has to say on this kind of stuff interesting.

Who's Derek Acorah? Never heard of him. Which character did he play?

He's a real life 'medium', made famous on Living TV's Most Haunted, where he wanders around supposedly haunted buildings, in the dark, on a night vision camera, and pretends to be possessed.

He was the guy on the sequence of TV clips who said something like "you don't need me anymore".

I honestly didn't guess it was the Daleks in the sphere, my missus was too busy getting excited as she thought it was Captain Jack (bah!).

I thought it was a good episode but Torchwood does indeed look a bit bare doesn't it? Too bright again too, but lighting aside as ever it was top.

Great episode! And yeah, I had no clue it had Daleks inside until they were all like, "ooer, what's in it?!". I was like, "daleks?!" about 2 seconds before you saw them. Which was wicked.

Best episode of series 2 if you ask me. Funny too!

Hmm, little thing I've missed though, looking back. Why were there ghost shifts? I mean why did they do them all the time?

To find out what's on the other side of the rift they were bombarding with particles. Simple human curiousity. Like the Doctor said: "You find a hole in the universe, and do you back off and play it safe? Nah, you think "Let's make it bigger!"".

Trying to research what was going on, I guess. Cause a ghost shift, get some data, spend a while working on it, go back and do another experiment with another ghost shift. Proper science.

If the head of Torchwood had been watching the rest of the series she would have been quite justified in shooting back, "but three episodes ago you thought that was the most brilliant thing about us!"

Loved last night's episode, but it's raised a couple of questions:

1) How will this effect future history - i.e. The Dlaek Invasion of Earth (when there was never any mention of earlier Dalek invasions), or does the fact that the Daleks were wiped from existance the timeline in the Time War mean that all the other Dalek stories we've ever seen have also been rendered non-existant. Think about this for too long and madness looms.

2) For a supposed top-secret organisation that has alien technology and the ability to pinpoint the TARDIS, how come they're completely unaware that there's an "advance guard" of Cybermen lurking in the part of the buildng that's got the decorators in? They were hardly lax in security - there were more armed, uniformed, security men than in a Bond baddies secret base!

I have also wondered about both of these. Presumably, the Cyberman invasion doesn't succeed as just last week it was clear the 2012 Olympics still go ahead. The Cybermen behind the plastic sheeting was a bit stupid.

They only managed that when the Doctor pissed around with one of their ghosts too. Another thing, the Cyberman is considered alien technology and would probably blend in nicely with all the other alien tech. Maybe the Cyberman was training in the art of plastering and decorating?

Yeah I gotta admit the thought that those Cybermen were just hiding in a building site for ages was a bit of a cop-out. As was the reason for two people wanting to actually go into there in the first place.

Still loved it though!

I wondered this before realising that whoever was there during the initial appearence of the 'Advance Guard' was probably taken-over in a similar way to the Torchwood workers, with those ear pieces.

For my money easily the most iconic moment of the Cybermen, patricuarly from my childhood at least. Amazing epsiode.

Just watched it, having missed yesterday's through being at a wedding.

Simply preposterous.

But preposterously enjoyable.

I think you'd have to be pretty stubborn to get no enjoyment out of that episode. Yes there were bits that made no sense, yes there were dodgy FX, yes it had all the faults that the new series has displayed, and which I myself have criticised.

And yet, somehow it transcended all that by having a real sense of pace, of suspense, of pure excitement. It was an 8 year old's dream, as RTD said on Confidential. And clearly the earlier, convoluted re-imagining of the Cybermen was designed purely to lead to this monster mash, and to whatever fate RTD has in store for Rose. I don't mind that, because sometimes it's handled just well enough for me to say "Oh go on then. Just take me along for the ride, you can be as silly as you like".

But the best thing?

"Genesis" Ark? What else could it be but Davros?

Those shots of the Daleks appearing out of the light are some of the best I've ever seen in Doctor Who. Given me shivvers having watched it again.

Ace, just ace.

I really really can't wait for next week. First time I've said that and really meant it this series.

Excellent episode. Just excellent.

(Plus the EastEnders bird is foxy.)

Presumably, the Cyberman invasion doesn't succeed as just last week it was clear the 2012 Olympics still go ahead.

That implies that history is set in stone and whatever is going to happen is unchangable. I prefer to think of it as "Unless we stop the Cybermen now, the future will be completely different to what we experienced". That's the least headache inducing way I can put it.

And I knew the Daleks were going to appear because not because I saw last weeks trailer, or because I check internet forums, but because the Cybermen had already been unveiled and that they wouldn't conventionally introduce a new "big bad" character for the last episode. The only bad guy left that would cause any kind of surprise would be the re-appearance of the Daleks. Admittedly I thought it was going to be that lead Dalek guy rather than just a bunch of standard ones, but still, Daleks were the only thing that was left to appear aside from introducing a brand new character to the series which clearly wasn't going to happen without any prior reference.

Stu, if you didn't like it, stop watching it.

Because you've got a big cloud of depression over your head, and it's starting to bore me.

Just because the Daleks appeared for 3 seconds at the end doesen't make it 'great' Who. The majority of the episode was rubbish, Torchwood represented as some cheap TV set, Jackie fecking Tyler and the Cybermen hiding in some half-built offices behind plastic sheets

As I said before, I liked all the episode. The script was funny, as all RTD scripts are, the suspense was brilliant, and I love Jackie Tyler, so nerr.

Plus, as I said before, whatshername from EastEnders almost steals the show.

Excellent episode. Will be watched a hundred times in a week when I get my hands on the DVD.
