Well, I'm DISCUSSING the show, Keith. Praising that episode of Who is akin to getting your cock out and knocking one out over a retard in drag shitting on your face.

You weren't discussing. You're making an attempt now, but before you were just being an arse.

There's your fucking cybermen done properly.

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant,

Mickey for full-time assistant in S3, PLEASE.

Good man.

I was worried about your reaction, but you've come good at the right time.

That's not the name the public know it by.

I thought she said the building was Torchwood Tower but the area was also known as Torchwood to those in the know. Regardless, it still doesn't make sense that everbody in the world seems to know about it's exsistence to the point that they casually mention it all the time.

Loved Jackie's line about "well peggy started hearing noises in the cellar"

o/\o

The Torchwood TV news reference was made in the parallel earth episode, with the Cybermen.

Is it just me or did the Dalek's voices sound different, like more high-pitched in their brief appearance and in the next week trailer? That episode was pretty dull really, although I think that might be because I already knew about the Dalek's appearance...some pretty dire acting too.

Hardly anyone knows about Torchwood. Even the Prime Minister wasn't meant to know about it in the Christmas Special.

Just because it's been mentioned a few times doesn't mean 'everybody in the world' knows about it. It's a top secret organisation. It was never mentioned by a member of the public - not in present day\universe.

Really? Jesus.

They can't do anymore. No-one could do anymore. That was about as good as Who gets. If you're not enjoying it now, switch off - honestly, for the good of us all.

It was mentioned by a police officer in the 50s in a way which implied it was fairly common knowledge amongst them. And by Huw Edwards.

Just about every episode from series one begs to differ.

Just watched it. That was bloody brilliant. Tennant playing it straight, the whole Torchwood thing playing out as well as it could possibly have done, Cybermen being properly excellent and an all-time classic reveal at the end.

Next week can't come quickly enough.

If I didn't already know that was daleks in the sphere I woudln't have guessed... I was out watching the footie and the wife phoned me and she was thought the cliff-hanger was fantatsic. All the way through the ep, she had *no* idea that it was daleks - and when they appeared, she couldn't believe it.

The last 10 minutes or so of that episode were great. Not as "fantastic" as the end of badwolf last season, but I can't understand why people couldn't be excitied by it...

I can't wait for next weeks episode!!! LIFEFORMS DETECTED... EXTERMINAAATTEEE!

There was no way you could have intellegently guessed the Daleks were inside the sphere, it just came out of no where.

Those who are so excited by the appearance of the Cybermen in this episode - I'm interested to know why you think they're so much cooler now than you thought they were earlier, given that it's the same Cybermen and they really didn't do anything?

Serious question.

Bursting down people's front doors and the like. A Cyberman invasion, good and proper.

Well they upgraded the cattle prod - but they still don't really scare me. Not when they can be stopped with a mobile phone.

Didn't the first dalek in season one 'destroy itself' by vanishing into an identical ball, prompting 'he's warped off somewhere' conspiracy theories (unless I'm remembering wrong)? I'm sure a hardcore fan would pick up on a detail like that (though it came as a shock to me, not being one of the former). I'm glad they did turn up anyway, the cyberman popping up halfway through was one of the biggest anti-climaxes possible after they were so shockingly awful the first time round.

Anything but battle between the daleks and the cybermen that reduces London to a Terminator 2 style post-apocalyptic wasteland will be a disappointment :)

School Reunion, The Empty Child, The Parting of the Ways, TGITF (apparently) all disagree with you.

The problem isn't really whether that was as good as Who gets, but whether in 2006, that was as good as sci-fi dramas and/or family entertainment gets and the answer by any reasonable measure of judgement is no.

I wasn't being an arse either. The Dalek "revelation" was entirely predictable and aside from the attempt at a stylish opening the whole tale of Torchwood, "ghosts" and Cybermen behind plastic sheets was total garbage.

The Cybermen have always been behind plastic sheets.

So this officially discounts your opinion. Bye bye.

Just about every episode from series one begs to differ.

Nah. Not The Long Game. That was bad Who.

This was as good as anything in Series One. Certainly better than Bad Wolf, which I actually quite enjoyed.

This.

Because the rest of the world doesn't log on religiously to internet forums. If you didn't already know the Daleks were going to appear, you couldn't and wouldn't have guessed. It even surprised me, and I knew they were going to appear. My heart rate went up ten-fold.

Well, it was sort of spoiled in the teaser last week. As a result I did guess it would be Daleks inside the sphere, although that didn't exactly quell my excitement when they turned up. ;)

I knew the Daleks were going to appear. Not because I'm a huge Who geek, or I check Outpost Galifrey like a mother fucker, but because I heard their gun sound during last week's trailer.

That isn't too geeky.

Just because the Daleks appeared for 3 seconds at the end doesen't make it 'great' Who. The majority of the episode was rubbish, Torchwood represented as some cheap TV set, Jackie fecking Tyler and the Cybermen hiding in some half-built offices behind plastic sheets ;)

still, Daleks were the only thing that was left to appear aside from introducing a brand new character to the series which clearly wasn't going to happen without any prior reference.

Could have been worse. Could have been the Slitheen!

No one's mentioned the wonderous performance of Mickey - holding a big fuck-off gun and quoting his favourite "defending the earth" catchline. I was kind of gutted that the quote from the Doctor Who website frontpage of "She's not Rose Tyler... not any more." wasn't put in the context of "OFMG! Rose is a Cyberman!" kind of thing but more like a weird out-of-place rant from Jackie in the TARDIS. "You're not even human any more...". Eh?! She seemed rather out of character there.

As for Torchwood Tower, I'm sure there's not just one tower or one branch of Torchwood - I'm guessing there has to be some kind of network worldwide, right? The Doctor did quiz them and they did say that they built the skyscraper just to get to that disturbance. For all we know, the original Torchwood House could have a funky underground bit too.

The daleks popping out of that sphere was a bit of a shock though - although the trailer did hint at it with the dalek ray. Daleks versus Cybermen? Yesfuckingplease. ;)

Missed that last night as I was at work - set off the download as soon as I got home. I was loving the episode, right up until "They came through first. The advance guard." Then I was completely and utterly in love. Cybermen piling into Earth, a good old-fashioned Cyber-Leader with black handles, Derek Acorah, DALEKS! I really can't see how they're going to top this.

Cybermen tearing through plastic sheeting -- ME SCARED!

As you should be!

Bursting down people's front doors and the like. A Cyberman invasion, good and proper.

Too fucking right.
