Doctor Who

That dialogue was quite funny.

No, it wasn't that bad. It wasn't that good though. It seemed to lack atmosphere to me, when it could have been very atmospheric. They're just showing the Clockwork Robot hiding under the bed in GitF on Confidential, and that's properly creepy. This was full of sunshine.

I think one of the problems with the last few stories is the lighting has been well off. Tonights story would have been creepier with a bit more spooky and moody lighting.

I did think this weeks was a bit pisspoor though, it was a really good idea for a story but not done all that well.

One thing that was decent and not turned up to 11 this week was Murray Gold's music which I thought was excellent. I finally got round to watching Casanova this week, and thought some of his music in that was beautiful.

Next weeks though....oh my (looks moodily lit too, about bloody time).

Different trailer for next week's episode here.

Yeah, one cut down from what we saw tonight :)

Does anyone know here you can find the trailer they showed after tonight's episode? They used to put them up during the 2005 series, but I can't find it anywhere there.

That was much better. Didn't really like the ending - the torch and the monster in the wardrobe, but the rest was rather good. Sharp, witty and rather scary in places.

Plus, and this probably isn't the place for it, but David gave me the proper horn tonight. I don't know what it was, but he looked pretty foxy. I think it must have be the "manly hairy hands" line.

So, next week...

I might have missed this, but did anyone see a Dalek-shooty-type-ray in the trailer?

The "fingers on lips" scene in this week's episode was so unbearably cringeworthy. My sister said "my teacher does that!", so it's official, the Tenth Doctor is a primary school teacher. :)

Actually I quite liked that bit. That was the whole gag, that the Doctor was asserting his authority like a school teacher. Tied in nicely with the whole school kids/drawings angle, and seemed to be saying "who are the really childish ones here?".

Yeah, I liked it, too - the Doctor patronising them because they were acting like children, and the sort of 'everyone listening when the Doctor shouts at them because he's got so much innate persuasiveness' side of it.

Great writing in this episode. Rose was bearable!

I heard The Master comes back in the final episode.

Here's an extract:

'DOCTOR WHO' CLOSING SCENE OF FINAL EPISODE

THE MASTER APPEARS. HE'S PLAYED BY MARK LAWRENSON.

The Doctor: WTF?!

The Master: LOL!

ROSE DIES IN BATTLE

CUT TO CREDITS.

There's a chance it will be even worse than last year's fucking awful Big Brother/ Weakest Link/ What not to Wear thing. Atrocious. I don't mind sly wee pop culture references but this is a bit ham-fisted and really cringe-worthy.

EDIT: Possibly the only way they could pull it off is if it is presented as being a TV show as opposed to a real Eastenders 'crossover'. If the intention is to show that the 'ghosts' have become so common place they are even being integrated into soap operas then it might not be as bad. If it is presented as Peggy Mitchell being in the 'real' Dr Who world then it will be shit.

Thinking about it next weeks episode could be an exact mirror of last years penultimate episode. Shite TV show references, a mass invasion by an old enemy and Rose getting kidnapped, forcing the Doctor into a rescue plan, cue end credits. Then a quick 20 second trail after the episode, another "they survived through me" reference" followed by the announcement that "a new clip will be aired every night on BBC1 and BBC online".

Enjoyed this week's a lot, one of the strongest this year IMHO. Huge riffs on Poltergeist, The Shining, Sapphire and Steel and Nigel Kneale-but that's not at all a bad thing in my book. Nina Sosanya is a fox.

Oh man, Nina Sosanya, good God in Heaven, she's lovely.

Another good episode, I'm starting to favour the current day stuff over the futuristic. I'm amazed at how angry some people are getting over the Doctor Who revival. Yes, there have been ups and downs, but by gosh I'm glad it's there, some of you people should stop taking it so seriously.

It's obviously a reference to EastEnders. They're not suggesting Peggy Mitchell exists in Doctor Who's world, FFS.

Oh no. Why does he do it? I actually go out of my way to avoid that type of programme!

Because he's not a pompous videogaming geek, and he probably realises that the majority of Who's audience watch EastEnders, too.

;)
