MaffewE
I surprised myself by thinking that was great. I mean, I wouldn't like another one of those... but that was still great.
Paradigm
Almost as good as the fireplace episode. Almost had me in tears. What a brilliant episode, and such a different way of looking at Who.
Fireproofradiator
Man alive that was a wierd ending. Bit overlong too, but it just about worked. Peter Kay was great. Wish the exchange between him and Tennant had been longer. Bit more onside with this series now after the last few...!
Paulando
Heh, I really liked it actually! Certainly a change to the usual format, and Peter Kay was absolutely fantastic. I also thought the guy who played Elton was pretty good too.
MrPogo
It's either the best or the worst episode ever. I can't quite decide which.
Alex W.
Fantastic. As JayGo says, I wouldn't want a whole lot more like that (it'd spoil the uniqueness for a start) but that's one of the best of the two new series.
Qazimod
Hmm, I get a bit irked with those "backward" episodes where you don't know what's happening for ages (like that one with K-9 a while back), but it was still alright. It keeps you watching, I guess.
Ravern
I like that a lot really. The 45 minutes flew by.
biglime
What a brilliant episode. Didn't miss the Doctor at all! You cannae go wrang with a bit of ELO.
Retroid
Second favorite so far, after the Victorian one. Don't really know why but it just seemed to work.
ryodi
I really enjoyed that. IMO it is one of the best episodes in the series alongside The Girl in the Fireplace. Didn't think much of the preview of next weeks episode though.
cassidy
Almost as good as the fireplace episode. Almost had me in tears. What a brilliant episode, and such a different way of looking at Who. Gotta agree there its one of my faves of S2 now. A cracking way to treat the show and its fans I thought. Elton Pope for next companion. He can even bring along his Concrete slab named Ursula. Anyway I thought that was some very human and touching writing from RTD towards the end. Oh and best use of ELO in a sci-fi series ever.
Shoes
10/10. I was thinking it should have ended on the fade to white bit with the kid and his mum, but the ending was surreal and funny. RTD for the win.
Sideshow
That was good that, next weeks looks good too.
AnimeExpert2003
That's was actually superb. Not something I'd like to see often, but as a one off, it's was nothing short of utterly fantastic. Man, to be honest, it was pretty tough to watch that episode at times.
Popo
That was sooo refreshingly fun and entertaining it puts the last 2-parter all the way to shame. Great character development - the montage of them all becoming friends set up their 'deaths' later excellently - and another classic RTD script as well as simply being a very clever idea for an episode. And yes Peter Kay was very good in the role - I like the way his accent became northern once he was an alien! "What's the twin of Raxacorical Falapatorius called?" "Clom." I thought it was brilliant. biglime
Elton Pope for next companion. This. Absolutely this. The boy was superb.
Geo
Twas pretty good, Peter Kay reminded me of Fat Bastard though
Davros sock drawer
It was just really funny, but also creepy - I wouldn't have liked the absorbed faces as a kid. And Kay slipping into his Bolton accent as the alien was a fantastic touch.
Fireproofradiator
Next weeks looks more 'dramarama' if you ask me...
Paradigm
'Cos he's great in Hustle 'n' all. The bit about LINDA had me laughing. Man. So good. You know, I've had such a fucking shitty year on some levels, and such a brilliant one on others, and my understanding and enjoyment of life has increased so much. So this hit me really hard. Great, great, great.
Fireproofradiator
I would have been happy with any of Linda as the next companion, including Peter Kay!
MrNobody
Okay, wait a minute... so being turned into an immortal, immobile head stuck to a slab of rock in The Five Doctors = fate worse than death, ultimate punishment etc etc. Being turned into a paving slab now = yeah, great, let's do it, brilliant! I thought the episode was pretty good (even Peter Kay), but come on, Russell, that ending was just fucking nightmarish. Brrr.
Popo
Also I was a bit confused - I thought his video diary was being recorded after the events of the flashback. At one stage you see Ursula's hand extend from behind the camera as she (presumably) operates it. Except by the end of the episode she's a slab. What the fuck?! Also would being brought back as a slab really be worth it at all?
Fireproofradiator
Know what you mean, MrNobody but after the really derivative stuff of the last couple of episodes I respect it's distinctiveness (and mad-eyed nutso-ness)...
cassidy
And Kay slipping into his Bolton accent as the alien was a fantastic touch. Well we already now every planet has a north. The past encounters with the wierd that Elton went through, could have been so bad, but it just worked so well. Loved the shop window dummies line and the Spaceship shot from AOL. Marc Warren is the main reason I watch Hustle to be honest, he's a cracking actor IMO. Its a 5/5 episode on one viewing alone. Clom as Popo said was hilarious. As was considering exactly what his sex life with a concrete slab with a mouth is
ryodi
Another point I forgot to mention in my original post. The actress who played Ursula also played Moaning Myrtle in the Harry Potter films and she was very good in this while I never really liked her in the HP films, her voice just irritated me but she kept it under control in this episode. Imagine the flooding-related dilemmas she could cause.
Davros sock drawer
Well, it was darkly comic wasn't it? I thought they'd cheesed it up by bringing her back, but having her as a (potential blowjob giving) paving slab was just a great, dark gag.
