I quite liked it. Despite the fact that towards the end, several of the schmaltziest things the programme has ever done came in quick succession:

Danny's speech going a bit Independence Day, the Brigadier salute, and then the "two weeks later" resurrection scene.

And also, the bit where Asthmatic Bowtied Scientist was protected from Missy by the world's slowest-reacting UNIT guards was terribly done. The vaporisation effect made me think for a moment that they were supposed to be holograms under Missy's control, or something else that would explain their complete lack of reaction to her escape. But nope: it was just poor editing.

But against stuff like that the episode gave us at least one truly fantastic moment:

Missy gloating about the power of her army and then... just giving the Doctor control of it?

And the Nightmare At 20000 Feet reference was cute too.
