Get on the #DrWho twitter timeline - people are really jolly upset over the whole what happens to dead people business. There will be complaints.

Thing is though - we've known all series we'll end up in *wherever the dead people are* and it's going to be really toe-curlingly unpleasant if it's at all well written... and we've known Cybermen are coming back as it's been all over the fucking place, and we all know how Cybermans are done, so what on earth were people expecting?

I didn't know what exactly it would be, but I can't say I'm surprised.

But

its made pretty clear throughout the episode that it isnt the afterlife

. Please tell them that for me. I'm not going on twitter. It sounds like a silly place. If they want something to shout about there is a great 8th doctor audio play where he goes to hell.

That's explained in kind of an off-hand way and it's quite a tricky concept. I wonder if a lot of parents are having to explain to their kids that their dead grandparents aren't coming back as evil robots with skeletons in them.

I hope so.

By the way "3W" is short for "three words" - "don't cremate me". The three words don't start with W which was confusing.

Phew, almost thought they'd come up with something new for a moment there.

Yeah. It seemed like a great and terrifying concept with a really creepy new enemy (I managed to avoid all the adverts/spoliers), then it turned out to be "Oh, Cybermen yet again".

The double-doors logo revelation was fantastic. But it would have been even better if it had been possible to avoid knowing in advance that they were in it! I haven't really followed any of this series' promotional material apart from the next episode preview clips, so until they turned up in last week's teaser, I almost managed it.

I noticed that the episode had a line describing

"what if the dead feel what's happening to their bodies?"

as a thought that no-one's ever considered before... but shirley that's a horror concept that's occurred to everyone at some point? :o

I didn't think it was bad, but it had a few examples of Steven Moffat throwing in unlikely or meaningless narrative elements for the sake of the plot. Two in particular -

1. the whole "dark water" concept serves no function in the context other than to hide the fact that it's Cybermen in the tanks (which I realised as soon as they said the skeletons were 'in something else' - and why they didn't ask exactly what they were in was a bit of an oversight.)

2. Clara deciding telling Danny she would end the conversation if he said he loved her again. While you could believe that him giving banal responses might help convince her it's not really him, the fact she told him she would go to wherever he was, thereby making Danny think she was going to die to join him, was just poor communication on both sides.

Quite right about Twitter. Don't know why footballers bother with it as all it seems to do is cost them money.

Episode would have been so much better if Cybermen hadnt been all over trailers, marketing, iplayer loading screen etc

Double page spread of the telegraph a few months back (slow news day was it?). It's damn near impossible to stay spoiler free these days sadly. Even The Night Of The Doctor had to be released earlier than planned due to some git wanting to spill the beans.

On 2, I thought Clara very much knew what she was saying.

As did Danny. Or whatever remains of him.

Or, since we've seen his grandkid, and I assume the next series isn't going to be exploring Clara's life as a time travelling single mother with a kooky older male friend with anger issues, Danny.

Could you give me a few clues about this, as I didn't spot anything along these lines*. If it isn't, how did Danny (and all the other people) get there?

*Admittedly watching with a bunch of kids makes a lot of exposition impossible to follow while you're explaining the previous bit to them.

The bit where they explicitly said their consciousnesses were uploaded to a Gallifreyan matrix and showed said matrix was a slight hint.
