Doctor Who

From that same article: "Doctor Who will now be head to head with The X Factor."

Backpeddling time for me then as I say that I still wouldn't be worried. Next to reality shows Doctor Who is consistently one of the highest rated programs on television in the UK.

Capaldi was great as ever and the monster was all kinds of brilliant, but this was the weakest of the series so far for me. Just too many sci-fi cliches and for some reason I thought the dialogue was really indistinct. Still, that's the joy of Doctor Who, isn't it? Everyone wants, and gets, something different from it.

That was pretty good! Listen had a more interesting idea, but this episode was tighter and more entertaining overall. I especially like the way the backstories of the supporting characters fitted with the final "revelation". Of course it was cheesy, but that never stood in the way of storytelling, which is often the case with the series.

Capaldi's Doctor is still a bit elusive, whereas the previous ones had a clearly distinctive personality from the get-go. But that elusiveness is also part of the personality this more "alien" Doctor, so it fits that it takes more time to get used to him and get an idea of what makes him tick.

And if the Ethereal copycat already knew the combination code to his missus, why didn't it just melt Keeley Hawes brain and get her out?

And in order for the initial time loop to start, and Hawes to know about giving the Dr the phone call, the Dr needed to break the bank in the first place to tell her - but that would never have happened the first time round?

Murray Gold bombast drowning out the dialogue again. Surely the most complained about part of new Who, but yet it's something they don't seem to want to address

I had the same thoughts about the 2nd issue. That's a paradox, thought I.

So the most secure bank in the galaxy... vulnerable to solar storms.

Also what does Keeley Hawes say when the Dr asks "if you don't like your boss why stay"?

She said something about her face fitting (in).

It's called an ontological paradox.

No it isn't, it's called a predestination paradox

That doesn't cover it for me. The Doctor received a phonecall but without being involved in those events in the first place then the phonecall could not have happened.
