Doctor Who

No, unobtanium is related to transformium, dalekanium is unique.

Watched the latest episode earlier. It was...alright. I think Asylum of the Daleks is still the best Dalek story in the new run. It feels like they're trying a bit too hard to give Clara a personality now.

Quote from Capaldi upon winning some GQ nonsense:

"I've been very lucky because in the past I've received awards for my acting. This is the first I've received for my personality, which I assume means they've never met me. The reason I've got this award is because I got the chance to play the roll of a lifetime twice. Malcolm Tucker in The Thick Of It. And I also got to play Doctor Who."

Uh, past tense? I'm calling it now! Capaldi's a one-term Doctor! ;)

I liked Clara best in that episode where the Tardis is pissing her about in "Journey to the centre...." and she's confused.

Great music too.

The thing about Calpaldi is that people were expecting a Tom Baker character but Calpaldi isn't eccentric. He's pretty straight up.

More like Pertwee i'd say - but not quite as charming. I'd imagine he'll have some great speeches but thats about it. At the moment he only works on a couple of levels.

Regarding that Dalek episode - how come the 'anti-bodies' attacked them when the Dalek was 'friendly' (and the Dr saying something along the lines of "it has no control over its immune system") - yet when they restored the Dalek back to a good 'un at the end it stopped the anti-bodies attacking (just in time to 'save' lives)?

It didn't stop them consciously.

There was some throw away line from the soldier girl along the lines of "You've done it Clara, the Anti-Bodies are resetting" as they turned back.

How accessing a memory reset the Dalek's immune system I don't know, but they at least tried to handwave it away

The BBC has edited a Doctor Who episode to remove footage where a character is beheaded, after the murder of two US journalists by Islamic State militants.

First time I read that, I thought 'blimey! That's edgy for Dr Who!'

This week the Doctor lands in the Islamic Caliphate where the Daleks and IS are racing to find missing weapons of mass destruction first.

For those wondering about the cut scene

During the fight with the Sheriff, Robin beheads him...but he keeps talking. The robot ship crashed ON him and they rebuilt him (that's why at the final bit of the fight he was talking about being half man half machine. His body picks up the head, reattaches it and they continue
