One thing that's really noticeable compare to the workprints - the music is fucking shite.

I've never had a problem with Who music before, but the compared to the WP it's loud and much "harder" to the ears . I'm really worried about my favourite (episode 4) which is filled with lovely soft music that helps add to it's impact.

When will these work print comments cease? I'll unblock you then.

I don't suppose any workprint talk could be kept to spoiler tags could it? I'd rather not have any preconceptions going into a new episode, not even "this is the best one" stuff as I'd rather go in blind. :( By all means spoil stuff for yourself, but don't take it out on the rest of us. :P

Anyway, I wasn't sure about that at first but it turned out rather well. It was quite original for a Dalek story, and showed Capaldi to be a very different Doctor. He's pretty ruthless and near psychopathic at times, not unlike Malcolm Tucker in fact! But not a complete bastard. The twist at the end, while a nice nod to Dalek, also made a clear point that the Doctor isn't the man he used to be.

The music did stick out in a couple of places. The antibody attacks could have been quite creepy with a more restrained, eerie score. Instead they were neutered by generic "action" music.

Murray Gold has always been easily the worst thing about the Doctor Who reboot. There's at least three bits in every episode where my eyes roll right into the back of my head because of the music, usually comedy bits. One of these days some mental Who obsessive is going to murder Murray Gold to remove the one man doing the most damage to the show.

This episode could have been a lot more interesting if the concept of a "good" Dalek hadn't been explored before and done so much better. Hell in the 6th episode of the Eccleston run we had a Dalek that killed itself because it just could not understand it's own thoughts. It would rather die than be anything but a Dalek. Then we had Dalek Sec who became a "new" type of Dalek who was killed because he was no longer a pure Dalek. In both of those episodes and others we've explored the Doctors own feelings of Daleks. He hates them with every fibre of his being, but he is always, ALWAYS willing to give them a chance to prove themselves but they always fuck it up.

The difference and most interesting part of this episode was that the chance was ruined by the Dcotor himself. His own own hatred of them, and in the hands of a better writer, could have been a lot more thought provoking and interesting. Here, the entire episode was predictable, certainly not the worst, but they really need to up their game when they do the Daleks because I think they're running out of ideas of what to do with them. Maybe they should "retire" the Daleks for a few seasons and bring them back when they can think of something.

Capaldi and Coleman were good as always but that was it really.

The Missy bit appears to be dealing with the common cop-out of the programme where someone always sacrifices themselves for the greater good.

It's always seemed a wrong underlining answer to the reboot series where you have characters after meeting the Doctor effectively committing suicide in order to reset/fix some problem.

Would mean the clockwork guy jumped and wasn't pushed out by the Doctor. I reckon after the Doctor decides that he is actually good and not evil other the next few programmes he'll then be confronted with all the people he let die along the way.

Most dalek episodes have been predictable though really. In fact i wondered if this Dalek would destroy himself - but no he's been given the chance to come back.

Theres one odd thing though - surely the attacking daleks would have visually recorded their attack. So the mothership would know the daleks were attacked by another dalek (and they said it as well).

The other odd thing was these guys could kill daleks by shooting them around the waist area. Yet didn't know to shoot them in the eye.

So why couldn't the Cybermen?

Lasty whats up with Rusty's gun? I thought it was a restraining bolt (haha another Star Wars nod) but no....its quite capable (it seems to fire at a faster rate).

Obviously it could be a sensor the Aris-otle team put on him i guess.

Of course the other thing to mention is the Daleks don't know who the doctor is so that side of the story is still applicable.
