Doctor Who

It's more exciting (not to mention it would make the character feel vulnerable) to pretend he has 13 lives, though. Sure it can be reset or whatever, but stating (like they did) that he has a million regenerations left (and however many River gave which is over 10) just makes the character lose something mortal in my eyes.

In fact, in Sprite Machine's reviews of previous episodes, I'm pretty sure he mentions that at some point it's mentioned there could be hundreds.

Hmm... no, I don't recall that. In fact, I was surprised how often the "twelve regenerations" thing was mentioned specifically. I'd figured it was one of those blink-and-you'll-miss-it fan facts, but it's actually brought up repeatedly.

RTD kind of handwaved it away in an episode of Sarah Jane Adverntures, but:

A: It reads like the Doctor is just dodging the question.

B: It's RTD, he also thought that the Doctor could fall hundreds of feet sheet through a plate glass roof onto a marble floor and get up a-okay. So fuck him.

Hey guys, sorry if this has already been asked.

I gave up on DW last year or the year before, not sure. Don't want to start a debate or anything so I'll just say it wasn't really doing it for me any more.

However, I'm kind of sad that I spent my entire life a DW fan and then drifted away from it when it was really hitting its peak, and I've still got lots of affection for it. What I want to know is, do you reckon I can watch NOTD and DOTD as a standalone thing for the 50th, and still get a decent amount of entertainment out of it? And is there anywhere I can get a concise-ish synopsis of the last year or two? The last episode I watched was at the end of the series before Pond properly left.

Dr meets Oswin in the dalek asylum, she dies.

Amy and Rory leave him he goes to Victorian London to mope, he meets Clara who it turns out is Oswin and not dead. She then dies again.

The Dr now mopes as a monk in 15th century England gets a phone call from Clara in 2013 for I.T. support. He goes hooray and heads off to meet her. She doesn't die, he now wonders who she is.

They have adventures every week which IMO are all pretty decent barring 2. The highlights are Cold war, Hide and The Crimson horror and The Name of the Doctor all well worth viewing. But I would give the whole season a go.

We then find out the truth about Clara in the series finale which leads directly into Saturdays episode.
