Just adding my thanks for your reviews, Sprite Machine! I've only discovered this thread relatively recently (why haven't I been in Film and TV before?!) but even in the short time I've been following along, your reviews have made me go back and rewatch a few stories and sometimes see them in a new light. Who knew that Vengeance on Varos is actually pretty awesome? Well me, since your blurb and the happy coincidence of it being on Sky soon afterwards made me give it another try.

Wot, no Talons of Weng-Chiang? No Brain of Morbius? No Genesis of the Daleks? Ah well, I suppose if you're trying to balance your list across the Doctors, that's fair enough. Wot no Ghost Light? Fair enough, it makes no sense until you've seen it 500 times and made up bits of it yourself. It's really quite difficult to come up with a top ten or top twenty list.

About Dimensions in Time: does the 3D effect work on YouTube? The glasses are very simple - one clear lens, one shaded - so you can probably improvise by wearing shades over one eye or something. I still have an official pair of the glasses (not with me to test sadly!) and Dimensions in Time on VHS, and the 3D effect is actually quite nice. Entirely dependent on horizontal movement to work, hence the continual spinning and panning, but I remember it being pretty impressive at the time!

Edit - just checked my own top-ten list that I prepared years ago for some reason. I also added a "bottom three" section and The Sontaran Experiment is in it. There's no accounting for taste...
