Doctor Who

Sad to say i've never seen In the Loop, so Capaldi is an unknown for me. Delighted however that we've gotten a far older Doctor this time around. Looks like we're due for a pretty big shake-up in terms of tone.

Speaking of which, Capaldi is the exact same age as when William Hartnell took the role.

The actors who played Amy Pond, Martha Jones and the Sixth Doctor all appeared in previous episodes as different characters - seems like an unusually high frequency for something like that to happen. Anyone know if there have been any other examples?

EDIT: Come to think of it, Karen Gillard was in the same Pompeii episode as Peter Capaldi, wasn't she?

EDIT2: ... and Peter Capaldi had a major role in one series of Torchwood.

Romana II

Lalla Ward played Princess Astrid (see what they did there) and then went on to play Romana II.

On another note: rather than looking drunk or pissed, it seems to me that Smith was pretty sad in saying goodbye to the role. I've heard something similar from Tom Baker when he took over from Pertwee. Seems that Pertwee always regretted letting go if it and Baker himself wasn't to fond of giving the role to Davison either.

Look, half an hour ago you were in with a shot! This is half an hour hence! We've fucking time-travelled, yes? We're in a weird and wonderful world where everything is different! Maybe outside the polar ice caps have melted! Maybe there's fucking robots knocking about and Davina McCall is the new Pope! Maybe you can download rice!

So many people on Twitter moaning that he's already been on the show in the Pompeii episode. I really don't understand why that is bothering people.

Same on Twitter, just a sea of love.

Mostly, but the are quite a few unhappy younger people.

Dunno what all the fangirl hate is about, people are allowed to like things whatever way they want. There's bigger things to worry about.

"Thank GOD maybe all these fucking KIDS will stop Internetting about their crushes on the Doctor" - grown adults who watch a children's show

My FB feed is full of people wondering about the regeneration limit. My response of "it's a fucking TV show for fucks sake and you are happy to accept that an alien with two hearts who flies through space and time can die and regenerate his body but, lo and behold apparently he can't fucking do it thirteen times because that would be too hard to believe" isn't going down too well.
