So-so episode ruined by the 2 most annoying little brats in the universe!

So terrible. I literally can't think what the director (Gaiman?) wanted when he wanted the girl to say 'I'm bored!' at the doorway of the base camp place. I can only assume he wanted to hint at her already being taken over by the Cybermen by shrouding her in mist and then getting her to relieve the tension with that sentence, but it was done so badly I don't even know what happened. And that Arty kid. Man. When he was in that anti gravity moon thing with Warwick Davies and he came down and went, 'That was the most fun I've had in my life' I started laughing.

Cybermen were good though, I like the fact they're now around the same level of threat and danger as the Daleks to the Doctor with all that improvements upgrading stuff.

Some of us are old enough to have said "but they're just posh cybermen" when Best Of Both Worlds first appeared.

Yeah I am one of those, thanks..

But suddenly we're having the Cybermen utilize a hive-mind, rapidly adapt to resist weapons etc and convert people by injecting tiny modules to slowly transform them. These were all things that were unique to the Borg.

When the Borg appeared, the only real similarities to Cybermen were that both are cyborgs and take captives to make more of their own..

Sadly nowhere near as brilliant as the Doctors Wife but an OK episode.

On feature creep they were Cybermen from 1000 yrs away so no reason why the Doc couldn't or shouldn't meet earlier less good versions.

Fast Cyberman effect was awesome. Then spent the rest of the time wondering if the brat screams reaaaaaly quickly or whether time was displaced around her in some sort of bubble.

That and why didn't they use that skill again if available.

I've been trying to figure out why I'm so disengaged with mystery of Clara. I don't think I'm alone, here and elsewhere used to be filled with pages of speculation on, but this season pretty much nada, despite them putting more emphasis on an arc than ever before. For me I think it's partly because everything post A Good Man Goes to War was so rubbish with regards to last season's death of the Doctor storyline, culminating in the nonsensical Wedding of River Song. But I also think Clara is basically Poochie, instead of having any chance to grow naturally into a character the audience enjoys, we're instead constantly told by other character's how awesome and clever and sexy she is. Every episode seems to contain dialogue from the Doctor about how we should be really, really interested in the mystery of the 'impossible girl' (see that prequel thingy above as well). I had to laugh when in that Tardis episode they actually came straight out and described her character traits as 'sassy' and 'feisty'. It just all feels really forced.

For me at least all of 11's 'arc' stories have turned out a bit crap, so I just don't care anymore and just enjoy the ride.

I think the 'make a fake robot doctor and that's how he cheats death' was the point where I figure the show would be so much better without an arc having to be referenced from show to show. I mean come on. FAKE ROBOT DOCTOR.

I dont think she's any more sassythan any of the previous companions for new who. The appearing in multiple lives thing is a great hook, and better than the still early character. Is that deliberate though, to keep her an enigma.

The arcs really aren't referenced that heavily. You could strip the references and 90% of the stories would still stand. Season 5 was good, season 6 had a nice setup and no payoff, 7 didn't really have one in the first half beyond Amy heading for the exit, and this will depend on next week.

Nah. RTD would literally make some random shit up in the last two minutes. That is a deus ex machina. Last night clearly had the seeds of the resolution from near the start.

You mightn't have liked the plot, but its not Jesus Hobbit.

Last night's was worth watching, if not nearly as good as the Doctor's Wife. The Crimson Horror was again good but flawed but Diane Rigg's performance was exceptional.

Ah, go on

EDIT: Forgot. Journey To The Centre of the Tardis. The weakest I thought, but still alright. Second half of this series has been generally stronger than the first.
