Hoo boy, who's up for some rumours in this thread? Because there are some crackers about what's been going on behind the scenes.

BE WARNED: HEAVY SPOILERS WILL FOLLOW:

This has been taken from a whistleblower blog. The same person posted the spoilers about the finale about a week ago, spoilers that seem increasingly legit. Anyway, here's the rest of the stuff he/she has been saying:

  • I said the BBC wanted to keep Steven Moffat but not on Doctor Who. This was seen by some as a contradiction. It is not. They want him to stay AT THE BBC but think that his time as showrunner is up. He disagrees. It is a delicate situation because they want to continue producing SHERLOCK and Steven's writing guarantees big audiences.
  • However, certain HIGH PROFILE WHO WRITERS and at least TWO DIRECTORS, one from the CLASSIC SERIES, will NOT work with Moffat again.
  • JOHN HURT does NOT play the Doctor as we know it. He will SAY he's the Doctor and the DOCTOR/s will believe him. But in the end it will turn out he's not. So all those fans who are annoyed about a missing/lost/alternate Doctor shouldn't worry really. It's not like that at all.
  • THERE IS NO REGENERATION. Matt isn't leaving.
  • The Christmas Special is not called Twelfth Night. That IS to be the title of any future new Doctor's début though as long as STEVEN MOFFAT writes it.
  • This years Christmas Special has SANTA as his companion along with CLARA.
  • Steven Moffat is already working on SERIES EIGHT. It is likely the BBC will let this row settle and commence production very soon. THIS ISN'T A CONTRADICTION from a previous blog, I am merely keeping you all up to date. THINGS EVOLVE.
  • Chris Chibnall is likely to write an episode.
  • One of the incentives to keep MATT SMITH is that he will DIRECT A DOCTOR LITE EPISODE.
  • The CURRENT PLAN is NOT to have another SPLIT SERIES. This has been seen as an unsuccessful experiment.
  • SOME PEOPLE have asked a) Who my source is b) me to to share it - 1) I AM THE SOURCE 2) I HAVE TO REMAIN ANONYMOUS

Correct, Harper hasn't directed anything for the series since, I think, the Waters of Mars.

One of the writers might be Robert Shearman, who wrote 'Dalek'. Moffat is known to be a fan of his work at Big Finish as well as being a fan of 'Dalek'.

Really not keen on Clara. Would rather any of Strax/Vastra/Jenny be the companion

Apparently no returning classic Doctors has been confirmed for the special. Moffat has said it cant be a fanfest. What else are anniversaries for, really. I'd was hoping for elaborate multi doctor silliness other anything poo faced, to be honest.

Could still all be an elaborate ruse, I suppose.
