Titles That Are Released...that Sell Bugger All

not wanting to derail the thread but yes the controller s d-pad is far better than the d-buttons as Willei put it.

.::: Gazonga! <_< Over here it's common knowledge that the D-pad on any of the Xbox controllers is terrible because it far too quickly rocks into other directions (using a soft-kb on the Xbox is terrible because of this). Every fighter in this house on the Xbox is played via a PS2 converter to get a decent D-pad (wich it is, just because you can't see it being connected on the surface doesn't make it consist out of seperate buttons). Forcing somone to play via an Xbox controller is asking to get the thing inserted into places where the sun don't shine.

Personally I prefer the GC D-pad, but I'm weird at that, I know.

And now back to the thread... (Somehow...)

Found another!  Some stupid game called Stolen.

.::: Airborne Troopers. Playlogic finally got around to releasing the game, but no cigar. People don't want it. (Hardly surprising when you time it to be released around BiA).

Found another!  Some stupid game called Stolen.

Each of those 'stupid' games probably represents several years of hard work and passion. Not every game can, or is even intended to be a top ten hit. Many 'stupid' games are made by people who love what they do and are prepared to make personal sacrifices in order to get their work out there.

The real problem is that games are given just days or weeks to sell before they are removed from the shelves. Many fine games are not reaching their audience because of this. This will change eventually.

It'd help if some of those years went into creating decent boxart, or a vaguely decent looking character.

To be fair, I don't think Stolen fits into the same catagory really!

I agree wholeheartedly; this again ties in with that piss poor attempt at a rant I posted in the other thread, and it's the reason I'm so eternally grateful that Psyvariar hit our shores.

talking of dodgy games, this one for some reason sells by the bucketload in our place! it cant just be the 9.99 price tag that makes it sell, cos we have plenty of other tat at 9.99 just sitting on the shelves. seriously, we sold 8 copies in one saturday!! i havent played it myself, so anyone know if its any good?

How come dross like Psyvariar gets released over here, while classics like DoDonPachi get left behind. :P

While I clearly don't agree that Psyvariar is dross, I still think DoDonPachi needs to be released over here, and should have been released here well before Psyvariar.

It would have sold fairly well too, because DoDonPachi is usually one of the first games people hear of when they start investigating import gaming.

I actually still can't play DoDonPachi, because I haven't decided on how I will play PS2 imports. Perhaps you guys can sway me one way or the other. You see, the thing is, I'm rather anally-retentive when it comes to games (as I'm sure most people here are), in that I don't just play them and then forget about them, I tend to dig them up frequently, and listen to the soundtracks all the fucking time. That said, longevity is a key issue for me. I can't really trust mod chipping, as that used to break PS1s (albeit because of pirate disc media). Would you guys really say that buying a 2nd (Japanese) PS2 is the answer to my problems?

I worked 20 months on a game that got not a penny spent on advertising. I'm still glad it got released because it would have been crushing for it to have come to nothing, but it'd have been nice if the publisher had spent even a little bit.
