Uh-oh. You've done it now.

M'eh I'm just saying what everyone else on this board knows to be true and won't say.

The Dreamcast is a cult console see; cult as in it was really crap and then when it finally dies a bunch of losers pretend it was great just to piss people off.

I hope this plays as well as the original Powerstone, but it looks so bland. Especially in comparison.

The ONLY good thing about the Dreamcast was Powerstone.

Please Capcom release a Live! enabled Powerstone.

Most of the hardcore fighting players refer to powerstone as poostone, infact I think that was writen across it's screen in permement marker in one of the london arcade. Quite liked it myself though.

And? An online Powerstone would be bad for what reason exactly?

Anyway - Spikeout looks really awful. I hope Im wrong but it looks like Shenmue group fighting and I can see that getting extremely tedious, fast.

I think even the majority of us sega fans will be giving this a miss.

Yeah it's a bit odd that the only game he likes is a fighter and is one of the lamest on the system. I love it but it's not really as in depth as the other DC brawlers.

If the posters user name was not that of a transexual anime character I might be tempted to respond... <_<

And if your's wasn't that of a rabid fanboy I might be tempted to listen.

This wasn't meant to start a flame war folks, just to state some fact: Powerstone was a very simple and playable beat-em up unseen on any other platform as of yet.

And the Dreamcast was rubbish.

No need to get upset, later you can all go online with your dreamcasts and whinge over a great game of chu chu rocket or some shit. For now feel free to talk about Spikeout. And Powerstone.

Hmmm curious... looking better than I expected still not as colourfull as I'd like but it looks m a little more interesting than my initial impression gave me.

For me this will live and die on it's 'live' implementation it it's great on 'live' but a little dull single player I'll consider it in fact I'm more likely to get it than if the inverse is the case (great single player shit on 'live').

It better had be Co-op over 'live' though.

Cheers

I prefer Slashout so much, I can only hope they included a Slashout mode as well?

Slashout multiplayer in the arcade was like a swords and sworcery PSO, but on P (faster, shorter attention span) with better combat. So online it could be the shizzle.

Spikeout though? I'll wait for the reviews...

  • 3 weeks later...

so, sega make this title online, yet, monkey ball dx which will undoubtley sell way more copies, is left offline only??? <_<

same old sega :D

lol .... of course it was. If you weren't being a troll you could have just said "Powestone was a great DC game wasn't it, why can't we have a Live enabled version of that?".

100% pure unadulterated Troll.

I'm torn about this. Part of me thinks it's classic no frills arcade action and is the answer to your prayers if you wanted a Streets Of Rage update, but it also reminds me of how much games have progressed of late. I've played a few levels and can't really face going back through them to see any further, the flaws I've noticed so far include:

• Bad to nonexistent AI. Enemies running into walls, lining up to be killed, it reminds me of State Of Emergency.

• Terrible camera which you can't move or centre. Makes the boss fights "interesting".

• Repetitive button mashing gameplay.

• Predictable and generic character design and locations. The cast features 80's rock chicks and bikers. How very Sega.

• Horrible music and voice samples.

• Crap story.

• Mediocre graphics. DC quality at best. The animation is remedial.

So no, we are not fucking amused. It's a straight up arcade game and doesn't have any pretensions, but that shouldn't excuse it from being unsophisticated and dated. I would've put up with some of its flaws a few years back, but today it feels careless, sloppy and dull. After Strangers Wrath and Brothers In Arms it looks even worse.

An Edge 5, being optimistic.
