In a follow-up to Wednesday's article on the displays at the Licensing International Expo 2008 in New York this week, scooper 'Compi716' sent us this note about the new RoboCop movie:

I was at the Licensing Show today, and I made sure to ask the MGM guy about 'RoboCop.' He said it is 100% going to be rated R, and, "It's going to blow everyone away. They've offered it to some really great directors. I can't say who, but wow." Sounds interesting.

Meanwhile, MTV has posted the logos that Marvel Studios has on display here. Included are Iron Man II, Thor, The First Avenger: Captain America and The Avengers.

More displays for Angels & Demons and Where the Wild Things Are can be found here, while Ain't It Cool News has more posters for Monsters vs. Aliens, How to Train Your Dragon and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs here and Ranger's Apprentice and G.I. Joe here.

It's a good start, hopefully those at the top are going to take the franchise more seriously than previous instalments. I'd love to know if they've offered it to Verhoeven though, it wasn't so long ago that he talking about reviving the franchise, so I still hold hope that a deal could be struck.

Fantastic! Anyone know any links for other amazing tv edits of 80s action films? I remember Aliens having some excellent edits

For dubbing, the Scarface one is pretty good:

"Where'd you get that beauty scar, tough guy? Eating pineapple?"

In hopes of getting support for the upcoming "Robocop" remake, MGM has been handing out pamphlets highlighting some strong points of why it is a good idea to invest in this movie. Below are the two pages from the pamphlet.

In the original film, the story revolves around Officer Alex Murphy, who is rebuilt as the cyborg RoboCop after being shot and left for dead by a vicious gang of criminals. Murphy is pronounced dead, but is then rebuilt as a cyborg who has the hardware of a robot but the instincts of a police officer.

Whether this will be a continuation, a remake or a re-imagining is still unknown. The goal is to have the film ready for theaters by 2010.

I hope that they do re-make Robocop only this time remember not to make it shit.

I rarely rise to troll bait, but you're wrong. Not right. Wrong. Imagine a man called Wrong McWrong. He's sitting in a house of Wrong, sipping a new drink called "Wrong", whilst reading The Daily Wrong. That's you. That's you all over. You are Mr Wrong McWrong.

Warn Level Raised.

I've observed you acting in a manner which is unhealthy for the forum and yourself, frankly I'm shocked. Please seek help.

Garry.
