This sounds more and more like F355 Challenge all the time.  I am rather looking forward to this even though I never played the demo, when is it actually released?

13th. Nice one guys keep talking. There was a lot of badmouthing and gloom about this title, it's nice to hear some positive feedback from people whe've actually played the finished product!

Thats spot on, cause thats what I was thinking while playing it today. It really does need intelligent use of the accelerator and brake, as in F355.

Thankfully the X box controller triggers are just as able as the dreamcasts for this. Its a joy.

I just spent sometime on the track playing around with the actual physics of the cars. Very realistic. For instance while trying to do donuts on the track you cant just go from a standing start, full lock on the wheel, full blast on the throttle. you have to tease it out, getting your car to lose traction before really nailing the accelerator B)

The damage system feels sufficiently complex too.

The draw distance again is brilliant. Absolutely no pop up at all, some of the tracks just open up beautifully for you.

If they can get this right on LIVE, its gonna be phenomenal.

Anyone know how many cars in each race on LIVE?

So is everyone playing the full version then or still going by the demo? I loved F355 Challenge so anything that even comes remotely close is good by me. I always thought that F355 Challenge would be great on the Xbox along with custom soundtrack support and online play.

Been playing this game allmost solidly for the last 4 day ( final code ), and all i can say is WOW !!.

This is what racers should be all about, the sounds of the cars are by far some of the best i have ever heard they sound just perfect from the 10 pot Konnigseg to the full out raw sounds of the V8 muscle cars.

The handling is the best handling for a car game ever to grace a console controller, you allways feel like you have total controll of your car. Braking is done how i have allways wanted it to be done, break to hard and the wheels lock up its done just perfectly when combines with the Xbox L and R triggers. ( no using the handbreak and foot break at ones trick )

The sence of speed had been improved ten-fold since the demo, where now it feels like it should if your where barraling along the nurburgring at 200MPH+ in a MclarenF1

The music is not my taste but the theme tune is nice, i stuck custom soundtracks on after about a hour of play so no worries there.

Overall i would say this is what GT3 and GT4 should of been, and as far as i can tell it beats the GT series all the way in every field apart from the number of cars, but then i would take a F40 over 50 diffrent types of skylines anyday.

I would give it 9/10 and a edge score of 8/10.

One of the best car games this gen and will sit snuggly next to GTR and Rally sport challenge 2.

I've got the US version on order, the 4th isn't it? Not that it matters too much other than to say it is well worth the purchase. My faith may have wavered slightly but it's pretty damn good. Not much to add to the existing stuff although I may post again later ;)

I expect a 4/10 from a certain mag... :D

Well, I just went from racing the Nurburgring to racing through a shipyard at night!

The shipyard was brilliant! Im not just talking round a shipyard, the track route takes you in and through the carparks where there are vans and lorries parked as you whizz past them! ^_^

If EDGE gave this anything less than 8 I would be very suprised.

A word on the AI as well. It seems to be good. Not on rails and scripted at all as far as I can make out. I have seen cars in front of me leave the road/spin off, jockey and exchange postion with cars around them. Also when I crashed into one of the cars in a race he ended up snadwhiched against the side of the side pit wall, instead of reverse out to go onto the track again he decided to actually go through the pitlane to exit onto the track still in front of me. Sneaky.

Yep the AI is deff good, im playing at the moment with all the assists off and on the hardiest setting, this is racing how its meant to be.

Im so glad someones finally got it right, lets hope it sells well, so we can all finally get away from the god awfull series GT has become.

I wasn't talking about Edge :D Aye, AI is brilliant -- have you noticed that sometimes, it really guns it and makes a mistake in a corner? Brill.

Downhill racing is tops and so far, it "feels" like Battle Gear 3 which made me ^_^ Not that that is a bad thing, Battle Gear is bloody excellent.

edit: Also, everything about the game appears to be customisable. From a rotatable map to switching dials on/off, metric and everything. Engine noises are a little quiet; more like what you'd expect from being in the cockpit of the car so that's a good thing in my opinion.

It also reminds me of Need for Speed 3 hot pursuit ^_^

I love it when you take a undulating corner to fast and you get the underside of the car scraping the ground, very satisfying.

What happens if you crash into them, are they just static scenery? Not that it matters much, this is starting to sound aces :D

Yeah the point to point races definitely have some similarity.

Im getting horribly addicted to this. Been on it all day, and Ive now got 100,000cr sitting in the bank just waiting to be spent. The Ferrari's are calling me!

All this positive feedback is great news. Damn it! i can't wait another 2 weeks now.

Anyone know if its region free?

Oh and if your after a wheel, check out the 'fanatec speedster 3 forceshock' as its been fine tuned by Microsoft to work with Forza.

Hmm. Not bad at all.

I've been playing nothing but arcade racers the last 5 weeks (I've not even touched GTR yet!) so i've got to get used to the brake before a corner or you crash mentality, but its certainly a more exciting race then GT4.

The modding is even more involved then MC3 in some sences, which is something i'd never though i'd say so soon. The point to point racers are cool too.

I miss those - many more racing games should have them.

Sounds really good. Should have it in the next day or so here in Australia.

I heard a rumour you could only have 1 (one) player per XBox over Live.

Can anyone confirm how many players you can have on an Xbox, both for system link and Live?

Given this a little more time today and it's excellent stuff. The Nurburgring is a complete bastard (at least it was in an NSX) but I was slowly getting the hang of the handling with all but 1 assist off.

I'll get some pics of my cars up tomorrow.

I got a feeling from some of the pre-release bumf I read that more cars will be available for DL.

Dunno, not hit them yet  :(

Heres some more of my pimping, again excuse the poor quality image.

Playing some more (level 20 now) it isn't the simulation it likes to think it is ;) It is still very good though but nowhere near the depth of handling GT, GTR or F355. Like I said before; to me, it feels like Battle Gear 3. A nice, easy drift-style (and it is very easy to drift/hold) racer (Included AE86 or whatever bollocks it is). I've got all of the assists off too.

It is certainly different enough to GT4 though. I'd expect nothing less of the Interweb to deliver 200 page threads on GT vs. Forza. I better go check Team-Xbox.

edit: My 'Drivatar' (John Gacy :( ) has completed all of the training. Scary exactly how much he balls up, just like I do. Check out your driver in the observe mode.....
