Sin City Trailer

Is there any word on the story? Going by the scenes I recognised there it's going to be a mix up of Sin City, That Yellow Bastard and The Big Fat Kill?

The film will include three storylines: "The Hard Goodbye" , "That Yellow Bastard" and "The Big Fat Kill" (it's first section directed by Quentin Tarantino).

"The Customer Is Always Right" is the teaser that opens the movie. Apperently.

Whatever the case, this is above Batman Begins on my most wanted list.

Oh, and the ace music in this trailer is "Cells" by The Servant.

For those wondering about the stories being covered, the following was posted on another forum. I'll put it in spoiler tags, although there aren't really any spoilers as such.

Centering on the titular city, Miller has written several books about the characters who reside there, amongst them:

1) Sin City (Now renamed the hard farewell or something like that)

2) A Dame To Kill For

3) The Big Fat Kill

4) That Yellow Bastard

Robert Rodriguez picked up on Miller and hounded him into allowing him to make a movie based on the books, promising that he would stay faithful to the material.

Miller agreed, as long as he could direct part of the movie (I think the first part - 1) Sin City). Rodriguez was owed some directing work from Tarantino, who will be directing one of the parts as well. Part.2 was dropped as it contained the same characters as Part.3 and could be 'summed up'.

So we're left with a three part story, the first is about Marv. Marv is a psycho whose one weakness is a girl named Goldie. When he wakes to find her dead, he goes on a vendetta into the depths of Sin City to find out what happened to her, pretty much killing everybody in his way. Marv will be played by Mickey Rourke, an ideal choice if you know the character from the books.

The second part (Big Fat Kill) is with Dwight, a private detective turned hitman who has to help a bunch of prostitutes who work in the city when they have some trouble with the local police. Dwight will be played by Clive Owen, also ideal for the role if you see him in Bourne Identity (not King Arthur!). One of the lead (gun-toting) prostitutes is Gail, Dwight's love interest, who will be played by Rosario Dawson (from The Rundown amongst others)

The final part (although I'm sure Rodriguez will edit them to be concurrent) is about a cop who gets into some bother on his last day of retirement. Hartigan gets involved with a little girl who is being molested by a bad man (Yellow Bastard) with serious connections. Hartigan is framed but takes the 'hit' in order to save the girl. Years later he goes looking for her because he thinks that they have found her again. Bruce Willis will be another ideal choice as Hartigan and Jessica Alba will be the (obviously grown up) girl.

Other stars include: Michael Madsen (who should be in everything), Maria Bello, the absolutely tremendous Benicio Del Toro, Michael Clarke Duncan, Josh Harnett, Nick Stahl, Brittany Murphy, Jaime King, Elijah Wood... arghhh one of the best casts EVER.

I'm concerned that Tarantino washes in his own glory, and ends up with self indulgent rubbish - see Kill Bill (s).

Let's hope he can stick to a tighter reign. If so, his contribution to the film could be brilliant.

Is it all filmed in front a greenscreen, a la Sky Captain? Clive Owen says this in an interview on the Empire website. It doesn't look that way from the trailer though.

I don't like the idea of crafting a film using mainly CGI. It always ends up looking stilted.

One thing I really wonder, is whether it'll be as explicit as the comics.

I can hardly imagine Willis ripping off that Yellow Bastard's dick at one point.

Well, seeing as Nancy Callahan is wearing panties, probably not.

And that music :o Suits the mood perfectly. God, I hope this trailer really is an indication of the overall quality of the movie. And not some what-could-have-been teaser like Hellboy (which was still relatively good as far as comic-to-movie adaptations go, but didn't do the superb comics any justice)

Lets hope that changes, I mean Jessica Alba's playing that part :(
