:) The amount of times I've said that...

Bennett is like Freddie Mercury but with reverse-AIDS, that bulk him up rather than wasting him away. Fact.

Commando body count :):

146 people are shot, blown up, stabbed, scalped, dropped off cliffs and mutilated. You might be thinking that the number I'm quoting is a little low. What you are not realizing is that fully 138 of those onscreen deaths happen during a four-minute time frame. Without doubt the bloodiest four minutes in the history of film.

Still, it's no... 'I don't have time to bleed!!!'

Someone else has already quoted this bit:

'146 people are shot, blown up, stabbed, scalped, dropped off cliffs and mutilated. You might be thinking that the number I'm quoting is a little low. What you are not realizing is that fully 138 of those onscreen deaths happen during a four-minute time frame. Without doubt the bloodiest four minutes in the history of film. Easily trumping the finale of even Death Wish 3. In one particularly noteworthy sequence, Schwarzenegger's character John Matrix manages to commit five murders using a pitchfork, an axe, a machete and two circular saw blades--all within the span of twenty seconds! He even kills two guys with one bullet.

If the purpose of a film is solely to entertain, then no movie has anything on Commando.'

100% truth right there.

I was watching it last night for the first time since the 80's and was quite shocked at some of the cold bloodedness of it all. They certainly don't let modern action heros carry out such brutal assults like they did 'back in the day'.

Mores the pity, the rebirth of cinema has killed the modern action movie.

Hahaha, the last fight scene between Matrix and Bennet had us in stiches. The guy who played Bennet was ill-advised to have attempted the scitzophrenic angle, those faces were comedy GOLD :)

And god, EVERY scene with Sully was tremendous.

"But what you do have to worry about is gravity!"

"Sully, remember when I said Id kill you last? I LIED!"

:(

The thing that sticks out most is that in the last 10 minutes, Arnie goes from action hero to demigod. Outnumbered 140-1, he just plows through an entire army base like a tornado through a haystack. Grenades barely scratch him, gunshot wounds barely slow him down. The icing on the cake is the final act of violence - ripping a pipe off a wall and throwing it with not only enough force to penetrate Bennet's body but to fly right though him and pierce the boiler behind him. Screw the Havoc physics engine, I want a game with a Commando physics engine.

Special mention to the amazing 'Bennet gets electrocuted' bit - instead of killing him, he merely becomes stronger than ever. Incredible!

Commando is a brilliant action movie. I first saw it soon after release.

I bought a copy from Play for £5.99 2 weeks ago, but it's cut out loads of bits - in the plane bit where he breaks that guy's neck was missing, Cook landing on tha spike has been cut, etc. Bloody annoyed me that did!

I can't believe they left so many mistakes in the film though....

- Dropping Matrix off at the airport, Bennet's window is up when Matrix says "I'll be back", then immediately being down when Bennet replies "John, I'll be waiting John."

- The damaged, then pristine Porsche.

- The wire holding up Sully, plus Sully in some bits actually being a dummy in the "this is my weak arm" scene.

- The soldiers that are clearly toy soldiers when Matrix uses claymores to blow up the army base buildings.

- the springboards when Matrix is taking on the army and throwing grenades at them.

- The army soldiers being reused several times.

Have I missed any?!
