CS2x
I just finished watching the first six episodes of Twin peaks on the DVD boxset. What happened to the releas of the rest of them? I'm desperate to find out what happens next! Any other David Lynch fans here?
Ebisumaru
What reason is there ever not to release a series on DVD? The obvious one; 'they' don't think it'll sell.
Billy Brown
The second series is coming, but then it's been coming for a long time. Latest estimates seem to be September 2005, although it was promised for Spring 2005 before that. www.dugpa.com is pretty good for keeping up-to-date with any Lynch release news. Kush
I'm also in the oh-so-painful waiting for Twin Peaks situation. I have no patience whatsoever which makes it worse.
linkster
The entire series is available on DVD, region 2, because it was released in Spain. The only country to see release a few years back. I have it, g/f bought it for about £70 on eBay, which is entirely reasonable given you'd pay that for a few episodes of Buffy. Naturally there's an all English audio option. Be warned if you're an AV nerd the transfer quality isn't great, but it's 100% genuine, not a bootleg. And yes, IMO it is worth it.
CS2x
I feel your pain. It reminds of the wait that was for Mulholland Drive to come out on DVD.
Exit Chamber
I watched it about a year ago after picking up the 1st series dvds cheap, and have been choking to see the second series since. Damn cliffhanger endings
jobe1
If you keep an eye on Ebay you can pick up that Spanish dvd set for a reasonable price. Ive seen them go for about £60 (though often more) which isnt bad considering how many more episodes there are in series 2. Best TV series ever

Disgraced Toblerone
Is the pilot episode on the spanish boxset you mentioned? IIRC, the rights for the pilot was not owned by the same company, so it's missing on most box.

As my indy - and pretty accurate - dvd shop told me, there is definitely a problem with rights regarding the pilot (is it the right word?). But maybe it's not happening in every country. Billy Brown
The pilot's a strange area, actually – there are two versions. There's the version that aired as part of the series (which features on the R2 DVD set), and then a movie-length version with a tacked on ending which was released in its own right on VHS. Graham S
The second season is quite a lot weaker than the first, (IMO and IIRC). More padding, and a useless new villain. At the time I was disappointed with the ending too, altghough after seeing the Fire Walk With Me movie I'm a little bit happier.
Andsom
I really liked the series although I did find myself fast forwarding an awful lot of season 2. I thought the ending was great. They were obviously setting up the third season which never happened. TP would have worked a lot better as a mini-series i think. FWWM is awful though. jobe1
Season 2 is definitely weaker, especially the second half. Season 1 was pretty much perfect though so its understandable. It seemed to lose its way a bit and you stop believing thats its all going to resolve itself neatly. I still love it and the ending was great imo. I also thought FWWM was great, pure Lynch and scary as hell...just a shame he didnt get all the same actors, though I suppose it didnt matter seeing as it in such a different tone to the tv show and didnt really connect that well. Graham S
FWWM is awful though. Well, I'd avoided seeing it for a long, long time. I loved Twin Peaks, but the dreadful reviews of FWWM put me right off. When I eventually saw it, I was pleasantly surprised. I can see all of the faults, but after avidly consuimng the "Secret Diary of Laura Palmer" book and speculating about the events leading up to her death, it was great to see some of that story on screen, especially as I remember it being darker in tone than the TV show could get away with: I find some of that stuff incredibly creepy. I'm not saying it was a great film, but for a fan with low expectations it hit the spot. Useless factoid: my wife used to look a bit like Laura Palmer, and exciteable girls in her sixth form used to get really creeped out when odd things happened around her. It was great back then when everyone seemed to be watching TP and having endless discussions about it. "Water cooler television" they call it now. CS2x
FWWM scared me! The bit where Click For Spoiler Bob climbs in through the window and starts having sex with Laura Palmer was so creepy...the thought of a father posessed by a demon raping their daughter does my head in. Or have I got the plot wrong, lol? Anyway, the movie had flaws but it really affected me in a similar psycological way Silent Hill would. I've seen many more overt and graphical horror movies, but this had something quite intensely dark about it.
Billy Brown
CS2x, please put that in the proper spoiler tags – I'd hate for the people who haven't seen the second series yet to read that. (If you don't know how, type [ spoiler ] words [ /spoiler ] without the spaces). EDIT: I enjoyed FWWM, but it'll certainly be a shock to anyone expecting something similar to the series. What I'd really like to see are the numerous rumoured deleted scenes featuring more or less all of the original characters in various cameo roles. Twin Peaks fans have been calling for them to be released on a FWWM special edition for a long time, but Lynch wants the funding to remaster the sound if it's going to get done. So far, the companies responsible don't see it as a practical use of their cash. A shame.

Billy Brown
Yep, you've kind of ruined the second series for yourself (well, the best part of it) by watching FWWM first.

Yeah, it's a shame more companies often aren't willing to support more "out there" directors. And I'm an idiot for watching the movie before Season 2.
