Evil Dead Remake!

It looks nothing like Evil Dead though. Where's the humour, or the inventive camera tricks, or Ash? It feels like any other generic slasher flick to me.

Evil Dead 1 never had any humour really, it was a straight up horror and this is also a remake of that not number 2. Also I dont think an ED2 remake would work so well with todays audiences, its very much a cult film in its style and humour.

I think that must depend a lot on your sense of humour. At a special cinema screening about 5 years ago the room was filled with laughter much of the way through. I suppose maybe its less hahaha and more wh ha ha hooah.

We talking about 1or 2 here? Plus it was probably filled with ED fans not your average cinema-goer.

The first film is actually pretty scary, especially the first time you watch it. There are bizarre moments of dark comedy, yes. Nothing to suggest that won't be in this one either, it certainly looks nicely over the top.

Though I hate Army of Darkness, I still wish we'd got a proper Evil Dead 4.

Funnily enough Army Of Darkness is my favourite of the lot, I absolutely love that film. Both endings are cracker as well. Good times and memories as a kid going to see that at the cinema with my parents.

That's the problem with it for me - it's a kids' film (which I wasn't expecting when I saw it), and isn't as awesomely fucked up as the best scary kids' film, Return to Oz.

There are some really good moments in it, mind you.

Aye to be fair I saw that first before watching the first two, I love them all but I guess I had no expectations with the series when I saw the third one.

I meant the first one. Well, being fans that was kinda my point as most got it and pretty much at the same bits whereas with your average audience that rarely happens for the more subtle /unusualfunny/funny noise bits that arent necessarily signposted .There was a lovely rise and fall of giggles too almost like a poofart wee gig :) .

Pretty much. ED1 was a real nasty, bleak piece of work which was actually pretty scary. It was from ED2 that all the wacky stuff started off.

I like the look of this remake.
