Official Metroid Prime 2 Thread

I beat Meta Ridley first time, but it took me like 40 minutes to do. It was a skin of the teeth thing. If any of the bosses make you feel as good as you do after just clinching the fight against Meta Ridley, that'll be worth the entrance fee alone.

Except if there's a fucking drone gun just behind the next door.

.::: No drone guns, just an 'out of reach' save point. ;) But when fighting enemies/bosses in the Dark World you can always abuse the crystal spots to regain your health. It might be slow, but it gets the job done.

Also ammo depletion for your Dark and Light Beam is somewhat annoying, but only because the game implies enemies can give you back ammo for one if you kill them with the other. While that works, you can also exchange 'enemies' with 'crates'. Which is a far more easier way to get ammo back.

It still feels as if I'm stuck in the beginning though, ammo for my beams is still at the bare minimum, and missiles are around 70. Liking it more overal, it just starts very... slow.

;)

I can take the hard Boss fights (just about)

but the Save points..? That's really annoying, it's rare these days that I get an uninterrupted few hours at a game.

And as for the 60hz TV . . . ;)

What the hell is that about? Why would they do that?

Any which way, i'm determined to give it a lash, although I dunno where i'll get the wedge for a new telly

it sounds punishingly difficult. i love the 2D Metroids and i enjoyed Prime but i think they need to tone down the boss fights.

.::: Well I'm coping with it. But then again everybody here was bitching about the difficulty in Prime, which wasn't that difficult imo. So based on that, I'd say this will be a hell to those people.

So they could get it out for Christmas, I imagine.

well.. .Omega pirate simply wasn't a problem for me.. not sure why people had such an issue with him.

Meta Ridley, on the other hand, was a right pain in the nads... but.. it was an enjoyable pain... like having electrodes on them and connected to a car battery...

... I took that too far.

Seriously though.. .gamers are pussies now. What's wrong with something being HARD? Meta Ridley was tough, but always felt achievable... I always felt that I was at fault and could beat him... yes... I ended the boss battle with about 2% energy left... but that just made the final victory even more fun! When fighting a boss, you should come out of the battle in a state... we're talking John McLean levels of injury... you should be knackered, in fear for your life and fighting for ever last bit.

I was like that but my flatmate took ages to beat Omega Pirate yet beat Meta Ridley in one go.

I popped home to see if my copy had been delivered but alas, no.

Looks like next week will be Metroid time.

on Fusion, I had a similar problem.

The spider boss, I scratched him off pretty quickly while my mate took 2 weeks to get past it... on the other hand, Nightmare took an entire 2 week trip to San Francisco for me to polish off (inlduing on the plane!). man he was tough...

but I did it...

I'll say it again, Gamers are pussies now. Just want to see the end and play through a story, rather than be given a real boss to fight who'll kick their ass...

Think about it... if it were a film and Samus was fighting Ridley... Ridley would be kicking her ass all over the place. Samus would be in a state by the end of it and it'd be a helluva nasty and exciting sequence.

Gamers complain if they lose a bit of health and need to try 3-4 times on one boss.

pussies

The feedback I've been hearing from those in the states who have it has been extremely positive so far. Hopefully once people over here have the game in their hands and actually put some time into it then it will get the attention it deserves and all the trepidation and negativity will subside.

To be fair most people should have a tv that plays in 60hz by now surely?

I'm a big Metroid fan and I loved Prime so why isn't this game grabbing me? I should have this on the way via import by now but I'm going to wait for the UK release. It's not sparking.

Oh and Steven, hello!
