Halo 2 Headset

I cant stand it. At all.

Too uncomfortable, very hard to even put on without using a mirror, feels like its hanging off your ear rather than held in place. I'l persist but im not at all keen so far. Maybe it'l 'click' into place.

Thankfully for me i can take it back...i doubt you could return one though unless you had a mate in a shop as you have to slightly destroy the package to get into it.

i found it uncomfortable, but after experimenting with all four ear-pieces found one that works. now it's fine. sounds good, feels good. found i was completely forgetting about it last night, not something i could do with the old one.

Can we get these from Game or Gamestation or the like? I want one soon, otherwise my ears will fall off  :P

I'm pretty sure I saw one in Gamestation today (Kings Lynn), it was about £30 I think. Was in a bit of a rush so couldn't inquire any further.

I got one for £28 from Tronix last week. I mainly bought it for better sound quality and I haven't been disappointed. Build quality is excellent, you'll have to really try hard if you want to break one. It's not as easy to slip on and off as the standard headset, but you get use to it. It's definitely more comfortable when you do have it on properly, although I didn't find the standard headset uncomfortable.

It's maybe worth £30 at a push, but definitely not £40.

I've ordered one of them (the X20). The Halo 2 one was tempting, but i wanted a replacement for the official one that isn't a behind-the-ear jobbie (wearing it with glasses gets fucking painful after a while). I might post some impressions on it once it finally turns up.

Well, I couldnt wait, and got me a headset today from Gamestation for £39.99! It better be worth it for that much!

Sorry Unlighty, but I'd not heard anything for a while, and I play a lot of Halo 2 online, so my ears hurt afterwards like hell.

  • 1 month later...

Does anyone find these to be quite short? the mic doesnt reach my mouth, whereas the official xbox live one reaches about an inch past it :S

I know these are prob sized for kids, but its such a contrast to the one that comes in the starter kit. Feels weird with the Plantronics jobby mic half way down my cheek.

I'm sure it was probably designed like that.

And as the minimum age to play on Live is 16 (IIRC) I doubt it's designed for kids ;)

Well let me be the first person to say 'I dont like it'.

The muffling inteference you get when people are moving their mics is clearer, peoples voices are louder - but given that voice over live isnt crisp, loud distortion isnt a good thing.

Because of the length of the mic arm it floats over the top of your mouth or your cheek which can be annoying as its in your line of vision.

Its much lighter but not at all secure, when you move the wire it seems to adjust the headset out of position. I find it takes quite a while to put it on which can mean that it readjusting itself out of place is annoying.

I dont think its worth the money - afraid mine will probably be going back..

It's got it's good and bad points, but:

I dont get muffling unless you have fools who have the mic in their mouth, or it keeps brushing against their mouth or whatnot.

mic in your line of vision, is your head mis-shaped? Bend the mic arm.

I find it more secure if worn correctly, they are used globaly in business - They must be OK.

But it is not everyones cup of tea

ahh :P

wasnt aware that could be done. The entire reason I posted here was to ensure I wasnt using it incorrectly - which I guess I am ;) To be fair I had only used the thing for about 20 mins and those were my initial impressions.

I'll give it another go and update..
