Nintendo Ds Order Update

Paradigm

Recommended Posts

We are sending out this email to all of our customers who have preordered a Nintendo DS with us to update them on the situation. As you may or may not know there is a huge shortage on the market on this product and we will definitely not be able to fill all preorders on release date. Nintendo has shorted our delivery quantity of the unit quite severely for launch. We do have a lot of other suppliers and sources to obtain extra units from but these contacts can't confirm quantity we will receive from them until very close to release date or even on release date which is making it very difficult for us to give our customers an accurate estimate of when their DS system will ship. Unfortunately at the moment as a precaution I have to inform you that your order for the Nintendo DS may not ship on release date. You do have the option of canceling your order but I just want to make sure you're clear that almost everywhere retailer out there is sold out of preorders for release date and will most likely not be filling all the preorders they have already received. Once you cancel you will lose position inline for the DS and remember we will be receiving shipments weekly and hopefully fill your order as soon as possible. Games will start coming out next week and we can't hold back shipments of these items based on if you are getting a system on release day or not. All DS software and hardware will ship when it comes in, if we can bundle games at the same time with the DS we will if not they will ship out separately. We know this is very disappointing news but in this business some of these shortages are unavoidable as demand sometimes exceeds supply on very popular items. We do recommend you to be patient as we will do everything we can as a company to ensure we can ship your order as quickly as possible, however if you do decide to cancel games or systems please email us at customerservice@videogamesplus.ca and we will be happy to accommodate your wishes. We will try to update you as best as possible on the status of your order and restock shipments of the DS if your order is not filled on release date. We will be sending out another email to all customers that we can confirm will be getting the unit at launch as soon as it has been determined. Once again we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you.

I'm just praying I'm high up on the order list seeing as I pre-ordered before they actually changed the price to the current one, which is when I believe most people decided to buy...

Produce more, Nintendo!

I have a preorder with them placed on the 7th of October...

... however I have also ordered one with Weinberg to make sure I get one at launch. I doubt VG+ will be able to forfill my order now after this message (even though I did not get any email from them yet. When I asked VG+ a few weeks ago how likly it was they would be able to get me one and how many people were ahead of me in the queue they were very vauge) so all my hopes are pinned on Weinberg being able to deliver through his sources.

Could mean I have a spare one come launch but I doubt it.

Just got the mail  :D  Come on, give me a break! August 12 isn't early enough??

I expect that VG+ are being passed over for bigger retailors. For example EBGames.com only just yesterday started saying it was too late to pre-order for launch.

they are sending the email to everyone no matter when you ordered, they will send another email closer to the time advising if you are gonna get one or not.

Eh, I got the email, but if I get it before Christmas, I'll be happy. Only thing is, I've ordered Super Mario 64DS as well, so the cart will be sitting there. Taunting me.

Oh well, at least I'll be able to finish Metroid Echoes.

I did say that retailers such as VG+ simply must have sold way over their allocated amount, and the email above implies they REALLY went over the limit. My supplier was incredibly lucky to get the relatively (compared to everyone else) huge number he did, as he took a whole store's allocation of DS's.

At the time when I said it, people said it was a bit low to say they wouldn't be able to get enough...I did warn you!

The thing is, Tronix who are a pretty big (much bigger than VG+) online retailer of videogames simply didn't accept any orders for the DS on the ground that they were expecting to be ignored allocation in favour of the likes of Gamestop and EB. I think VG+ will be lucky to fulfill half their preorders.

Well mine was ordered at 19:35 on the 07/10 and I really don't care if I get on launch or not. I have GTA SA, Halo 2, GT4, HL 2 and Rome to get through!

I wouldn't mind my DS before xmas day though as I want to play Mario the snow levels :)

I got quite excited when I saw your thread, unfortunately the deadline had passed so I had to go for VG+. I only decided to buy one on the spur of the moment because my PC is layed up for 4-6 weeks (half-life 2, nooo!), but it looks like I might have my PC back by the time I get my DS.

Friend of mine got the above email, and has almost had a coronary. What amazes me, is that they MUST know who is high enough up on the list of people who ordered first. That way they can at least be honest, and give everyone else the truth instead of making people wonder whether they will get one or not. Very shoddy.
