I think a GTA: World would work, with five or six SA sized countries or states with a plane or a ship linking them. I'd also like to see a Deus Ex style approach to the plot, ie. if you don't want to kill someone or commit a certain crime then you don't have to and the story could continue in that new direction.

where are the feckin traffic wardens? i have been waiting for those since GTA 3....

nothing would give me greater pleasure than to slowly and horrifically kill traffic wardens/parking attendants.

you could even have a whole sub game where you have to chase down and butcher wheel clampers....

is it just me that hates the bastards?

  • 1 year later...

Yeah! LET THE SPECULATION COMMENCE!

I still say rideable camels. GTA Cairo? Even though they dont have creatures in the game. Shame, cos Zelda had the indestructible chickens.

It would be good to see more subcultures within the population:

Geeks in net cafes and libraries

Football hooligans

Chavs

Jock and Cheers etc...

The game should be more time-event specific - i.e football hooligans are only likely to be around on match days, and are likely to be more lairy the more they drink and as the night/afternoon goes on.

For then to be able to manipulate areas to your advantage.. I.e selling drugs to students, knives to scallies etc.

secret entrances leading to cavern systems below the city - stalactites, underground lakes, rivers, etc.

ability to set explosives and bring down the buildings above ground!!

plus - how about those springy strap-on leg bouncer thingies from that gadget site, they would be pretty cool jumping cars etc

here's a good one - being able to throw a load of marbles into a crowded street/mall then running everyone over with a steamroller while they're falling about!! :)

Well seeing as we have had

A city

A bigger city

A whole US state

Wouldn't the next logical step be a country. I mean a WHOLE country

I don't mean something like America per say, but how's about an enviroment that would take 2 / 3 hours to cross?

NO NO NO!

They have to stop making GTA so massive! It's getting daft. They size of SA is amazing, its just there's fuck all to do in most of it. :)

I would personally like a game the size of SA (maybe even a little smaller), just with loadsa 'pointless' missions that do not advance the story, throughout the small villages/towns which are scattered around the place.

I want hangliding. And horseriding. Ooo horseriding could be awesome! It would have to control like Agro from SotC though!

AI a bit more like Oblivion, ie most NPCs should have daily routines.

More variations in vehicles, I want proper trucks and tractors and other crazy stuff.

And ALL BUILDINGS MUST BE ENTER-ABLE

EDIT:

More silly things! Zombies (as mentioned above) would be friggin INSANE!

There should actually BE wildlife this time too. CHOICES ROCKSTAR! GIVE US MORE CHOICES THAN JUST DRIVING AND SHOOTING, THANKS!

No set missions, just general quests that could be randomly generated / mix-and-match from a list of things, so it always feels new. Take missions from almost anyone, anywhere. Like Spider-Man 2, but not so soul-crushingly repetitive.

Plus, I'd like it if the objective wasn't to clear the missions to get to new cities/districts, but to reach a certain level of money - like the old games did it. That way, you could ignore missions completely, and just cause massive destruction!

This would lead to the game being less story-led and more freeform, but that hopefully means less time spent developing characters and paying for voice actors and a quicker turnaround for development time and a 'larger' game as a result!

I like that idea Sprite. It'd be good if the missions were no longer all self-contained and signposted things. Just get given a list of goals and a deadline (minutes, hours, days in the future) to accomplish them by any means necessary.

You should not start out as a criminal you should be an average guy who goes to work from 9 to 5 and you can keep going to work getting money or you can turn to a life of crime maybe murder, steal something etc this way you could create the path your character takes.

I'd like the world to be roughly the same size as San Andreas, and that area worked out into stupendous detail. And make the population smarter, maybe have people having daily routines like Oblivion. Get the stat-stuff from San Andreas a few leaps ahead, by using proper stats for reputation and how people respond to you. People crossing the street when you approach, or not arguing when you want to take their car if they know who you are. The ability to recruit people and send them out on a mission and getting into trouble when you get too many of your hoodies killed.

I hope San Andreas is just the tip of the iceberg.

I like that idea... up until the point where I realise that I'm always going to be a criminal.

It's in the game's electrical blood.

I would quite like to see different massive cities, like combining all the urban areas of San Andreas with sub urban areas surrounding them, but I'm not too bothered about joining them all up. Setting it in Europe would be nice, too, as then you could have London, Paris and Rome (or Turin for Italian Job style shenanigens), for example.

I really like the idea of goals rather than specific missions as well. It'd make the gameplay feel a bit more free, and actually get the player to think about how they're going to accomplish it rather than leading them around on a leash. A few games on San An felt a bit more like this, like nicking the Helicopter from the Fuel dump (You could try and nick the patriot, fight your way through all the guards and get to the roof, or you could just nick a plane/chopper and jump out onto the roof), but it'd be nice to have freedom every time you take a mission.

What do you guys want for the time period, past or present?
