I lol'd

I did at the beginning.

But then the whole he's a clone & Cecil and then the whole pregnancy i just dunno feel a bit flat with it all.

I mean ok the new mini-series cover spoils the whole Saur & Invincible survive but would have been nice to see it wrong.

Don't get me wrong i love Mark and the title to bits i just didn't want it to go back to the way things were 50 issues ago.

The Levy bit made me lol though :)

I got so i got Young Avengers #1 and gave it a quick going over and i have to admit i really am not seeing what all the fuss is about.

Certainly not to the level of this:-

SHE HAS NO HEAD! – WHY ‘YOUNG AVENGERS’ IS THE FUTURE OF SUPERHERO COMICS

http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2013/01/28/she-has-no-head-why-young-avengers-is-the-future-of-comics/

Like i said it did quick read it and i do like the cast but i didn't think it was anything special, i mean the whole Hulking and Wiccan stuff was a bit more full on then usual which i thought was a really bold move and great stuff and fingers crossed we won't see any letter pages from it like Incredible Hulk 420.

I dunno maybe taking the at lunch to sit and read the whole issue at leisure will make me change my mind.

What did everyone else think?

What happened in IH #420?

I like YA, but it was earth shattering. It's still scene setting, and importantly it's "new" scene setting for the new set up of YA rather than older.

I found Hulkling/Wiccan a bit jarring - they're thoughts/motivations seemed a world apart from how they were.

What happened in IH #420?

It was the infamous "Aids" issue. I think there's like 2 issues with letter pages about Aids in 420 [EDIT: #426], it was during Peter David's run where he tackled loads of topics back to back such as Abandonment, Aids, Abortion.

They are really worth the read if you haven't ever seen them.

The Bobbie's box is worth a read on there too.

So, two years after buying it and a year after the dog tried to eat it, I finally read Luther Awkwright.

Utterly brilliant, amazing art and script. I do wonder that if I had read it 20 years ago then it would sit alongside Watchmen and DKR as one of my favourite comic books. It is hard to get into though and often rather plodding.

Although it seems very well thought of in certain circles it seems less well known than other Talbot works.

I know fuck all about comics but I fucking love Chew (At least the 9 issues I've read so far), what else is like it?

There is so much good stuff to enjoy. Most new people to comics like Y The Last Man so I'd be tempted to give that a whirl. It's a lot of fun :)

There is NOTHING quite like Chew.

Now I've got the facetious answer out of the way, there's actually tons of great series, primarily from Image, Vertigo and Marvel's Icon Imprint. We are in a bit of a golden age of indie and creator-owned comics and those guys consistently put out quality comics. Off the top of my head, the stuff that springs to mind....

Saga (an absolute must and the best new series since, well, Chew :) )

Scalped

Manhattan Projects

Powers

The Massive

Northlanders

Invincible

Y Last Man

Irredeemable

Walking Dead

Fatale

Morning Glories

American Vampire

Yeah, just looking at that list, none of it is like Chew.

Only thing I can think of that's remotely Chew like is Groo (ironically). Not exactly the same but as lovely a sense of humour.

That said: Chew 28-30 is possibly the best beginning-middle-end story I can think of. Awesome storytelling.

Invincible 100 left me completely totally and utterly flat. Which is such a shame as it's by far the greatest Superhero comic in the Universe.

Mars Attacks vs Robots vs Zombies was OKish as well. Shame as the first week of the crossovers (vs Popeye) was an astoundingly good comic...

Annihilation Conquest: 1-4

War Of Kings

Their own title:-

I didn't know there was new Powers. Awesome.

They're relaunching the series again next week with a new name change. I remain to be convinced that they'll stick to any sort of regular monthly schedule this time around either (their track record with their last relaunch wasn't great). Still, good to have it back and I'll probably pick up the new trades when they're out..

I read in the back of Iron Man that Guardians Of The Galaxy is getting a new series in a matter of weeks too.

Yeah setting up all the movie stuff Bendis on it so i'll probably try the first one and hate it.

Same with the non Richard Nova, love the creative team but not sold on a child Nova but will give the first one a try.

Marvel space stuff has always been awesome!

And this years surprise surprise crossover seems to be:-
