Somehow I was able to grab this image from the Turtles comic...

;)

There really is some stella stuff from Mirage's run. I love the Bode issues the most and some of the tales of the tmnt had great one off stories.

The ratfink inspired race was a fav but i can't remember the exact issue now...

Carrying on with TMNT Issue 10 of the original Mirage Run is just amazing! Most people would recognize a lot of the issue as this is what the first movie's main fight scene is based on.

The art these guys was doing out shines stuff that's even being done today truly amazing stuff, samples after the jump

I never got into the Mirage stuff, I just picked up the reprinted Archie comics, which (after they'd gone through the usual TV show tie-in bumf) was absolutely cracking. The arc where they disappeared to an alien world and had to fight in some weird UFC-like tournament and all got new costumes was (to my memory) fantastic. And they introduced Wingnut and Screw-loose. I wish they'd reprint them, there's only one TPB from what I can find and it's just the TV shows first episodes made into comics.

I'll never forget, when I was a pup one of my older brothers who was quite a comics aficionado (he was the reason I collected for a long time) gave me an issue#1, first print of Eastman and Laird's TMNT; and I wrote in biro in big capital letters 'THIS COMIC BELONGS TO *my name*' on the inside of the cover

Unless I've gotten my dates mixed up, Young Avengers #1 is out today. Kid Loki! (the other) Hawkeye! Miss America Chavez! Immensely punchable alien hipsters!

It's going to be ace.

Also An O'Malley cover!

I'm picking up the first one but i do love Young Avengers and Miss America was a pretty fun character so i may stay with the series.

CBR News: Rob, what's the basic story of "Judge Dredd: Closet?"

Rob Williams: It's really about a Mega-City One kid named Taylor who we see between the ages of 16-18. He's gay and trying to come to terms with that. Homosexuality isn't illegal in Dredd's city, but angry, blue-collar men like Taylor's father don't deal well with the idea, especially under his roof.

A brutal act takes place, Taylor's father disappears and suddenly this kid is all alone in a world that seems to be firmly telling him to keep who he is hidden so no one gets hurt. Then he finds himself in a Dredd-themed underground gay club, where everyone dresses either as Dredd or as a perp, Dredd being the ultimate symbol of macho, leather-clad repression in this city. It's kind of a Village People deal turned up to 100 in a Mega-City One style. And then the real Dredd arrives.

Young Avengers - really good bits (love the first double page spread); but other bits my lack of continuity knowledge doesn't help at all.

I'm hoping to pick mine up Saturday, not a big Gillen fan so be interesting to see what i think of it. I've got high hopes, that it at least brings the Young Avengers into Marvel NOW continuity and allows them to appear in other titles and crossovers like "Age Of Ultron"

If you are an Invincible fan and don't want #100 spoiled I'd definitely stay off 4chan and comics websites for a week

also I might start reading more manga cos this sounds fantastic:

President Momoi Kun (MR)

President Momoi is only interested in his leadership role cause it'll help him find a young, sexy boyfriend! But why is he constantly gazing at his colleague, the old and very married Director Watanab...

I've been trying to think how they can resolve the current storyline in Invincible and I couldn't figure it out. Then I remembered how to deal with Invincible storylines. Think of the regular way a comic would reset the status quo. Throw that shit away, have someone beaten to a bloody pulp and COMPLETELY change the status quo permanently.

I fucking love that comic. Can't wait for issue 100.

In rather cosmic news for me, I've been given the go-ahead from Ricardo Delgado (Age of Reptiles bloke) to start work on getting a trade paperback started for his old 4-issue scifi series Hieroglyph up and running!

It's not going to be for a little while, and it's most definitely going to be a Kickstarter campaign, but all I'll say is that if anyone likes cool alien sci-fi stuff, with loads of mysterious architecture, freaky aliens, daring do action and a proper classic good v evil battle, then I reckon it might be right up you street.

I'm giddy with anticipation!

That's awesome. Congrats, man. Post a link in here when it's ready to go. I'll have a look at anything sci-fi related.

Cheers buddy :). I will keep things updated...although currently everything hinges on him finding his original artwork. If he's fucking lost it, then I'm buggered....I've kept my copies of the comic, but they're in no shape to be used in a book!

I think I mentioned this before, but the gore in Invincible really puts me about. Not in a prude "BAN THIS SICK FILTH" kind of way, but the way it's contrary to the cartoony style of Ottley's art in general is brilliantly done, especially after being desensitized to it by everything Garth Ennis ever did. Maybe because it's used relatively sparingly too.
