Made In Wario Twist

Much like before, the same super short mini games but now controlled by twisting your GBA left and right. Watching the Japanese commercials it looks rather dull but get it in your own hands and (just like the people in the commercial) you just can't help but laugh your head off at the sheer bizareness of the physicality of it all. The mini games are as imaginative and lively as they ever were and you quickly feel at home with the game as its structured much like the original (although the presentation owes a lot to its GC incarnation).

I expected game after game of only "twisting" to be rather tiresome but it really is great. The diversity of games ensures that this isn't a problem. Also, make your way to the third of fourth level (with the ninja girls) and you get old school mini games using the ordinary controller (yay!). Later levels keep you on your toes by mixing up twist style games with ordinary control games.

I've only played it for a bit so far so I'm sure there's loads yet to uncover. Hopefully this cart will have the longevity of the original. All in all I can't reccomend this enough, an absolute joy of a game guaranteed to raise a smile (or twenty).

i was going to get this, but am going to wait and see when the release date for WarioWare:DS is. If it's ages away i'll get 'twist', if not i'll wait for the DS version. Should get both really, but funds are deffo going towards the DS.

Here's another observation, when you rotate the GBA to play the game its like you can feel "clicks", like moving a clicky joystick between its various positions. Maybe this is done with some sort of force feedback mechanism. Regardless, its pretty swish, and varies in strength from game to game. Very nice touch.

Hows the text in this game? I think it would annoy me to not get the little hints before the mini game in English, but if they don't announce a US release date soon I might think about importing.

Sounds superb. To be honest, I had a few doubts as to whether the central play mechanics would work with the style of Made in Wario, but it looks like the developers have been successful overall. I have one question, though: does the manual come with stickers like those that were included in the manual of the original Made in Wario? (I liked the presentation, you see.)

I'm so incredibly jealous. But, no matter: I can always import the game at a heavily marked-up price....

To be honest, I always prefered not getting the clues in the original. I find the game a little on the easy side when your given the clues and I'm sure the same is true here.

Sadly, there's no cool stickers (or board game like there was in the GC version). The book is pretty cool with fold out pages with nice art and screen shots (I like the Batman-esque "Warioman" pictures) but its not as nice as having some goodies chucked in there. The game comes in an amusingly cheap (deliberately so, I'm sure) looking box thats a tad larger than it needed to be really.

Still, it only cost £21 so I can't complain.

Do all the games include the twist or are there some normal controller actions mixed in?

As mentioned earlier, later in the game you do get normal controller mini games mixed in there too, nicely. As for the "twist" games, its funny how much you swivel your head around when you're playing, you really get into the whole twisting thing.

Surely playing it on a regular GBA in anything other than perfect lighting conditions will be a bit of a nightmare though?

Mind you, I usually look like I'm playing some sort of twist-sensor game whatever I'm playing, trying to get just the right angle to actually see the screen :( I need an SP!

Actually, I need a DS. Bum.

Is it English friendly or is there lots of Japanese text?

Its as friendly as there previous one, which is very friendly. There are a couple of games with text that require a bit of guess work but it really isn't that bad. Saying that however I discovered that there *is* clicky style force feedback in the cart after all, I'd merely turned it off in the otions screen without knowing! That feature really is nice btw.

Ugh, the GBA Rom scene when a game like this comes out is absolutely sickening, lines and lines of the following on IRC when it came out :

"OMG WE CNA PLAHY?!"

"OMGZOMWHERS THE PATCVH TO LET US PLAY"

"I H8 U NITNENDO"

"NINTINEO R CBNUTS"

And then lines and lines of the following when some dickface actually managed to patch the game so it's playable with emulated tilting :

"OMG THIZ GMAE SUXXX!!!"

"THE TILTGNI IS SHIT"

"CRPA PATCH"

"HAHAHAHAHA THIS IS RUBBISH"

For some little trolls on the internet, there really isn't anything you can do that will please them. Similar things happened when Boktai came out and all the little romtrolls where hungry to play it, on an emulator... or a flashcart, thus completely removing the element of the game that makes it what it is.

Oh-oh. The IGN "Hands-on playtest" mentions that there are no multiplayer minigames anymore. It's disappointing news, of course, since I have fond memories of playing these in Made in Wario; but, even after reading this (not meaning to steal Jools's lightning or anything) the game still looks rather enticing. Yoshi's Universal Gravitation, which is based on the same or very similar technology, looks rather interesting as well...

So... the new Yoshi uses tilt technology?

Oh god, right here's something fun for everyone to do then!

On the day that the new Yoshi GBA game is released/yarred, everyone hit http://www.gbatemp.2ya.com and get ready for a very amusing, very troll filled day.

Yes; I must agree that the things you mention are very disappointing, but surely there is no need to be bitter about the fact that these things happen, is there? (Well, unless you're an executive at Nintendo, of course.) Thinking about it, it's a shame that these people don't realize that they're spoiling their fun of the game by seeking to overcome the limitations inherent in using emulated versions of the game. That's all my opinion, of course: I'm aware that some people might derive pleasure from overcoming the barriers set up by games like Made in Wario Mawaru, Happy Panecchu, and, in the future, Yoshi's Universal Gravitation; but I prefer to enjoy the games as they were meant to be played.
