Other sections were fundamentally broken. Taking out the two Wraiths just prior to the Scarab was ridiculous - I fired four rockets into one of them and it just wouldn't die.

Are you playing on the 360, by any chance? I never had that happen on the original Xbox, but on the 360 I had invincible Wraiths happen more than once; the only way to take them out was to hijack them. It seems to be a glitch with the 360 conversion (also, Elites will sometimes just stand there and let you shoot them; perhaps they're just being sporting as they know they've now got invincible tanks?).

The glitch where Elites just stand there was there on the original Xbox, but I've had the invincible Wraith problem on 360 as well. At least I assume it was invincible – it took about fifty shots from the gauss cannon before I gave up/died. I've noticed a few other glitches as well, like gun emplacements not being present and weird shapes appearing on the screen. Halo seems completely bullet-proof by comparison, although the frame rate doesn't seem as consistent as I remember.

I don't think they are. The hype may be big for a game, but it's nothing in comparison to the big movies. Also, it's nothing to do with respect - it's pure marketing spend from Microsoft.

In the UK, I haven't seen a single advert for Halo 3 on the TV and I haven't seen a single billboard poster for Halo 3.

Champions League match tonight, Believe advert on at half time, ITv. This is the TV premiere for it. Think all the hype will start to kick of from then.

Just a week to go. :(

No fear of that. For all my bitching about the single-player, in comparison to the brilliance that was Halo, the multi-player was amazing. The beta of Halo 3 was also amazing so I'll be buying it regardless of the campaign mode.

I've got just the right level of anticipation for this. Before Halo 2 came out, I was far, far too worked up, and when it didn't quite deliver I was gutted. This time, I'm looking forward to the game, but if it doesn't quite measure up to the first game I won't mind that much.

just thought that I would brag a little (considering that I'm trapped in the microsoft building working midnights this week for the Halo 3 launch) where I've been surrounded by literally millions of copies of said title that we've been shipping out the past 2 weeks.

here's one for everyone; the legendary package is massive. bundled at only 2 pcs. per shipping container, each box within measures about 12"x11"x13" in size and weighs in at over 7lbs!!!

I managed to snag a legendary pre order on play.com before they all dissapeared. I wonder how much they will become worth

I got one too, but does the fact that the order was processed actually mean we get one? ShopTo didn't honor...

I'd think they would appreciate well, especially if the game's any good.

The whole exterior of the Waterloo Bridge Imax cinema is a Halo 3 advert. It's huge.

I work round the corner of there and couldn't believe it when I saw it, the last thing on there was the simpsons movie... wouldn't have thought it would be a remotely similar ad budget as that...

EDIT: on another note, I'm not pre-ordering from GAME oxford street anymore, pre-ordered special edition bioshock and they'd sold out of all copies when I got there as they were apparently under stocked and hadn't even notified me of anything, so just went and bought normal copy from Virgin, they had bloody loads.

I actually almost posted something to that same effect. (mind was going to be "unless you've got a fat, big headed cat, you may find your legendary spartan helmet rolling about on his noggin.")

although, to be quite honest, I'm looking forward to all of the people going all out and creating the rest of the armour for said spartan-cat and posting pictures :(

sorry, no pictures from the warehouse. I almost got my ass in a sling the last time I tried taking photos of the display case inside the warehouse :D

edit:

to be honest, pictures wouldn't be all that exciting. unless seeing tons of plain cardboard boxes stacked on pallets gets you salivating. however, that "do not street until sept 25, 2007" orange sticker is pretty hot. ;)
